Hey~ Cool, that sounds really nice fx. I think i'm gonna start out with shallow diving too. And ya the marine life was a distraction! But I'm gonna go back to the pool this weekend just to get more comfertable,and then I'm going on my first dive trip. Florida Keys,here I come!! Well like I've said in my other posts,I really appreciate the help you are giving me.

P.S. did anyone else have trouble with mask clearing three? you know the one were you have to take the mask totally of your head and put if back
on under water? I HATE that one!!

That skill will come with practice. Do you have bangs? I do and whenever I get hair caught under the skirt, I have trouble clearing. Good luck and dive as often as you can!

Yeah, I have bangs,and it does make it a little harder. But after I spend some more time in the pool, I'm going to spend as much time (without over doing it)diving and trying to get omfertable with it. Thanx again for all your help guys. It really means alot to me.

Mask clearing gives lots of students (and divers) anxiety. PRACTICE is the key - its a much needed skill, so if you are not comfortable with it - work on it until you are! Good luck!

hey. i'm 13 and i just finished open water I in April. It was a blast. I live in New York so we dived in very cold water(about 55 degrees). when diving in cold water we had to wear a hood and mits. this meant that every time we took off the mask or let water into it we had to fix the hood and put it over the skirt of the mask. doing this with the mits is awfull. I sort of got better at it but it is hard.
