Just got back from Cancun. Took the resort course at my motel and did a shallow water dive to see if I even like it. -- I do.

Want to get certified. I know there's a written test. Is this something you start studying for ahead of time, or do it in conjunction with the course?

They should give you the books when you sign up for the certification class, but if not assumiong you are going PADI - you can get the open water course pack at almost any local dive shop.

you can always pick up the book ahead of time. The book makes a great reference.
