A question came up in my science class today about the deepest that a human can go underwater. Does anybody know how far it is possible to go or a record of how deep someone went. This includes using special equipment, as long as it is not some kind of submarine. Thank you. The sooner the better!
Recreational diving limit is 100ft not 130ft on a 20% mix witch is what we now breath 20% o2 79% nitrogen and 1% other! Anything over that would be a Nitrox Mix or a trimix witch uses healium.

According to the Recreational Scuba Training Council, the absolute limit for recreational scuba divers is 130 ft. 100ft is the "recommended" limit for recreational divers.

The current World Record deep dive using open circuit scuba equipment is 1083ft set by Pascal Benabe.

Recreational diving limit is 130ft. Although a lot of people will start feeling the effects of nitrogen narcosis around 100 feet. To go any deeper would require extensive training and equipment.

Yes, but the original question was "What is the deepest that a diver is physically able to go?"

Narcosis is very subjective. It can be felt one day and not the next, by one diver in the group, but no other. A diver can go for many, many years and not fall subject to it then one day suffer an extreme case of it. Scientists have been trying to unravel its secret for many years.
