Mares Writing Slate
Rating: Mares-Writing-Slate Didnt Actually Buy This Slate - Scuba.com was out of stock 4/11/2013

The title says it. This was one of several items for which Scuba.com was out of stock and backordered so long they cancelled the item from my order. At least for this item, Scuba.com let me know it was delayed. Some other items were delayed, so my whole order was delayed without any communication, even though I paid extra for "3-day delivery". I guess that means 3 days after they finally get around to assembling the order and seeing if some items will come back into stock. The Mares slate is probably just fine, but it seems peculiar to be prompted by Scuba.com email to write a review for products they cancelled from my order for being out of stock and backordered. Very unpleased with Scuba.com on delaying shipment without notice, essentially wasting the extra shipping I paid for expedited delivery.

LavaCore by Oceanic Trilaminate Polytherm Dive Vest
Rating: LavaCore-by-Oceanic-Trilaminate-Polytherm-Dive-Vest Nice Warmth with Neutral Buoyancy 4/11/2013

Wore my new LavaCore dive vest for some recent deeper dives. Being a vest style, it was fairly easy to put on. It fit just fine under my 5-mil wetsuit without bunching or adding bulkiness. During the dive, I could tell a nice difference in warmth as the vest helped keep my core warmed. I had made 10 dives in the 3 days prior to this, so had a basis for comparison to tell that the vest was doing its job. Also, during the surface interval and on the 45-minute trip back to the dock, the vest kept me warmer. Especially for quick, easy-to-put-on core warmth, this LavaCore vest was a great option.

LavaCore by Oceanic Trilaminate Polytherm Dive Vest
Rating: LavaCore-by-Oceanic-Trilaminate-Polytherm-Dive-Vest Good Sizing Variety Makes for a Good Fit 3/30/2012

As a novice diver preparing to head to Hawaii for my open water dives, I decided to purchase a wetsuit to better ensure a workable fit for my short & bulky build. At 56" or so and about 225 lbs, I tried the Bare 2XLShort, which seemed to fit pretty darned well. It is listed for a slightly taller person, but by keeping the bottom of the legs down at ankle level and arranging the suit, there were almost no places with obvious extra folds. In checking the fit of suits of other divers, mine was not out of place, And it kept me comfortably warm on my OW dives, while a few others with 3mm suits were feeling chilled. This is my first suit, but Im quite happy with it!
