Scuba Gear Reviews by Eric F.
XS Scuba Mesh Pocket with Zipper
Rating:
Good but... 11/11/2012
I like these pockets because they drain (and rinse) excellently and the zipper tab is big enough to grab easily. The material is stiff enough that I can open and close it one-handed. They are just the right size to enclose a pair of EMT shears and a line cutter but still be flat and reasonably low-profile. But they have suicide clips (plastic carabiner thingies) on the outside that must be cut off which is annoying. I cut the plastic loop of the clips, leaving the webbing loops intact, and added a 1" SS split ring on one side which is a useful small clippoff point. I left the third clip on the inside, and added a bungee lanyard loop inside which would have been nice for XS to have have included in the first place. Not perfect out of the box but the just-right size and material, and the price, give it a 4 for me. Was this review helpful? Yes No

A little light... 11/5/2009
Long on exhortation but short on the nuts-and-bolts. Good chapter/sermon on fitness, but lacking details on gas management, dive planning, self-rescue drills and so on. Not bad, but not enough. Was this review helpful? Yes No
XS Scuba Regulator Bag
Rating:
Decent reg bag 1/17/2009
Large enough, padded, and includes a sewn-in padded sleeve for a console inside plus a flat pocket outside. Cant beat it for the price. Too bad they dont put a "diaper bag" label on the outside (and offer it in pink or blue with storks) instead of advertising it as theft-worthy scuba gear! Was this review helpful? Yes No
TUSA Imprex Hyperdry Snorkel
Rating:
Its a snorkel... 11/20/2008
it worked great in that i never really had to pay attention to it it let me breath for snorkeling, and just hung there for diving. comfy mouthpiece, no sharp parts. if you put the top end underwater, it will flood, otherwise it stayed dry, but really thats been true of every snorkel ive used so ive never been sure what this "dry" business is supposed to mean. maybe the baffle on top will cut down on the horseflies i seem to suck in during summer snorkeling up north! Great mask 11/20/2008
this is not really a low-volume mask i got it on recommendation from an optician who makes prescription masks. im very myopic (nearsighted), -11 and -13, and apparently the higher volume places the thick cemented-in lenses at the right distance from the eye. worked great for snorkeling and diving, very comfortable, easy to clear and i could see! i have 3 tusa masks and theyre all very well made.
