Scuba Gear Reviews by Anne E.

Rating: Very easy to hear 08/23/2007

Above water, it sounds like a Salvation Army bell. Underwater, its the most effective and obvious way of getting your buddys attention that Ive heard so far. Much better than a tank banger.

Rating: Good value 08/23/2007

I get tons of compliments on my sharky belt, and its nice to have a metal buckle that doesnt have the problems that a plastic buckle has. If you get the yellow belt, you look kind of like Batman.

Rating: Confusing 08/23/2007

I still dont know where to put it or how to use it, exactly. I think Im supposed to attach it to my BCD, but Im not quite sure how or where, and Im not sure what the point of some of the straps are. It seems like it would be extremely handy, but Im just not quite sure where to put it. I guess I will have to experiment more. If I figure it out, it will be a great value for the money.

Akona Mini Retractor
Rating: Akona-Mini-Retractor A little inconsistent - one good, one not strong enough 08/23/2007

We ordered a couple of these, and one of them gently and easily connects gauges to one BCD, with a handy clip design that allows it to snap into place easily. The other just wasnt as strong, and the same gauges dangle rather than being held tightly in place. It would be fine for a lighter object - I just wish both worked as well as the first one does.
