worth the few $ more. got them for a trip to belize to replace a pair of 10 year old boots....totally comfortable, loved the fit, havent a complaint to think of. worth the money...go for them!
if you wear any kinds of boots with your fins these are a MUST. no blisters or hot spots. for the price you wont find a better piece of dive equipment.
I have worked in the airline industry before and have seen how baggage is handled. So when I started checking my dive equipment I always worried what shape it would be in when it arrived. I also saw what kinds of baggage worked the best and survived the daily bumps and tumbles. Although, this case is not airline rated...this will keep your stuff safe. It is heavy...so watch the weight of what you put inside. The present extra charges by the airlines for second bags and excess weight make you think of what you can leave behind, what you must take, and what you can rent on the spot. If you want to take it and want to protected...this is what you want. Buy it!
I use my snorkel more than most people. Whenever I am on the surface...either before decent orat dives end I breath through my snorkel. When I go down, however I do not like having the thing klunking off my head or causing drag. So, this foldable snorkel fit the bill perfectly. It breathes easy, clips on and off the mask effortlessly, and can be contorted to fit into just about any BC pouch. The only thing I might fault it on is clearing. Its not the easiest snorkel I ever cleared. I end up reaching up, bending the top over and purging that way. If you snorkel on your trips as well as dive you might want to consider this...or take another snorkel for those occasions. But for diving and emergency purposes this thing is great.
roomier than the more expensive bag that i own. carrys great and seems durable.
I tried a couple BCs over the past several years. each had an aspect i liked...but the AVID seems to have them all. I like the removable and non removable weight pockets. the fit is comfortable and doesnt creep up on me when inflated. there are vents everywhere. you can find a pull cord and it will vent in just about any position so you can correct bouyance on the fly without stopping and turning upright.
