I bought the XL based on my exact measurements, but would have been able to wear a L because all the straps are adjustable. It might have been a better idea for me to have called a rep with my measurements and let them help me. I did however LOVE the quick release weight pockets. They seemed to displace the weight better than the belts that were all familiar with.

This duffel bag was bigger in person than it appeared and it held all my gear and then some!
