Scuba Gear Reviews by Cara V Tufts

Rating: HYPERSTRETCH TITANIUM HOOD Reg Bag 2/19/2007

I wasnt comfortable with storing my reg loosely in my gear container, especially after installing the Bio-Filter. It seemed vulnerable to damage. Even with the Bio-Filter attached, my reg fits safely/snugly inside this padded reg bag and I feel more secure knowing its protected.

Oceanic Vortex V-12 Fins
Rating: Oceanic-Vortex-V-12-Fins Fine Fins 12/22/2006

Glad to have these on my feet instead of my 20 year-old spectra fins. Theyve been great for boosting efficiency under there, I find I dont work quite as hard, and my calves and feet dont cramp anymore.

Henderson Hyperstretch Titanium Gloves
Rating: Henderson-Hyperstretch-Titanium-Gloves Gloves 12/7/2006

Since I dive most often in Monterey/Carmel Im happy to have these. They make all the difference between cold hands and warm. Only drawback is that theyre a little bulky, but thats to be expected.

Seacure Hi-Flow Custom Mouth Piece
Rating: Seacure-Hi-Flow-Custom-Mouth-Piece Made a big difference 11/19/2006

This little thing made a big difference in comfort and airflow. It takes less effort to keep the mouth piece in.

Oceanic Excursion BC with Quicklock Weight System
Rating: Oceanic-Excursion-BC-with-Quicklock-Weight-System Nice 11/19/2006

This is a great BC and I love it, especially the integrated weights and quick lock weight system. Im mainly a Monterey/cold water diver and its got the weight/air capacity I need, and is super comfortable. Only thing Im not crazy about is the location of the air dump valve at the back, but Ill get used to it...

Henderson Hyperstretch Titanium Hood
Rating: Henderson-Hyperstretch-Titanium-Hood Hood Wink 11/19/2006

Works for me. Wet or dry, slides on and peels off easily, is very comfortable, tucks down and lays flat on my chest and back, and keeps my head toasty in Monterey waters.

XS Scuba 80 Cubic Foot High Pressure Steel Tank
Rating: XS-Scuba-80-Cubic-Foot-High-Pressure-Steel-Tank Ahhhh 11/19/2006

This is a perfect little tank. I just bought one of these High Pressure 80s and love it. Its shorter by a few inches but has the same capacity as its larger cousins. The height of the tank is about the same as that of my BC so instead of having to lift my BC up (weight and all) to cinch the strap around the valve, I let my BC rest on whatever surface Im using when coupling my tank to the BC. This makes it easier for me cinch and tighten the straps. Im spoiled and will be buying another one for myself next year and, if hes good, one for my diving buddy for Christmas.
