Scuba Gear Reviews by Gerald Benson
Bare Trek Boots
Rating:
Das Boot 4/25/2007
I replaced my Neoprene boots with these for my shore dives. I have a more difficult time getting my fins on than I used to. It also takes a little bit longer suiting up for my dives. On a hot day, this makes a difference. These are of great quality and comfortable. Im planning on wheening myself from ankle weights and shedding my neoprene boots should help with that. Apollo Bio Neck Seal
Rating:
A great idea, but not for me. 4/19/2007
Frustrated by repeated cold water breaches across my latex seals, I tried dry gloves and the neck seal. The dry gloves are great with no down side (well maybe an extra couple minutes pre-dive). The neck seal on the other hand was uncomfortable. The extra pressure on my neck seal was distracting and I never got used to it. Ill keep the neck seal around in my save a dive kit, against the possibility that my neck seal stretches out or a buddy wants to try it. Overall, Id say a great idea, but not for me. 6 dives so far, work just fine. Helps manage the drysuit air ... particularly with the lighter split fins. Was this review helpful? Yes No
Underwater Kinetics Fusilier Hydralloy Knife
Rating:
great small knife 11/25/2006
Great little knife, comes with two rubber straps that both adjust for grip and quick-disconnect for release. Also comes with two threaded fittings to attach to your BC. I was disappointed that the fittings didnt align with the rivets on my BC. The knife easily disassembles for cleaning. The knife releases from the holster easily, even with 7ml gloves on. Im glad I chose the blunt tip, I feel safer knowing I cant accidently cut a hole in my dry suit trying to re-shieth the knife. Was this review helpful? Yes No
