Scuba Gear Reviews by john DENT

Scuba Mini U-Beam 5 L.E.D. Dive Light.
Rating: Scuba-Mini-U-Beam-5-L.E.D.-Light. Marginal at best 2/27/2009

A cute light and easy to clip to your BC but dont expect much from it. The best use for it is digging for things in your gear bag in the dark.

Princeton Tec Shockwave II Dive Light
Rating: Princeton-Tec-Shockwave-II-Dive-Light There is something to be said for "customer service" 2/27/2009

this is a good dive light but what makes it really excellent is the company backup. if it breaks, they will send you a new one. whether it be airport baggage handling or you it off of a cliff, they dont care. the one i have is brand new, but a dive buddy of mine who is an instructor and owns a dive shop in florida only carries this brand.

Oceanic Viper Adjustable Strap Dive Fins
Rating: Oceanic-Viper-Adjustable-Strap-Fins Good, basic fins. 2/27/2009

In the process of moving from NC to UT, I met some friends in the Bahams for a 7 day liveaboard. While packing, I realized my fins were in NC. I ordered these fins as replacements and much to my surprise (considering I live in the middle of the desert) they arrived in the necessary 2 days. The fins themselves are "adequate". There is nothing special about them. They performed well and nothing broke. As adjustable strap fins, they are fairly easy to get on and off, a desirable feature on a dive boat in rough water. I will continue to keep them as backups.

XS Scuba Save A Dive Kit
Rating: XS-Scuba-Save-A-Dive-Kit A must have item in your kit 2/5/2007

We all know that when we fly somewhere to dive we are weight limited (50lbs). By the time you get your BC, wetsuit, lights, fins, etc in the bag you are pushing the envelope at the ticket counter. If we all owned the gear we would like to have we could never fly, but this item is a must. There is nothing worse than spending $2000 on a trip, getting there and on the first dive, you break something. This kit will save you.
