Scuba Gear Reviews by Andrew Clisbee
Pelican 1650 ROLLER PROTECTIVE CASE
Rating:
Great for Protection, but HEAVY! 9/19/2006
I bought my pelican case to take on a dive trip to Bonaire in May. It did a great job standing up to the rough baggage handling of several different flights. The thing is a tank - basically indestructable. In addition, it is waterproof, so if you have to travel with wet gear, it doesnt soak everything in your car. The case is very heavy, though. At around 30lbs empty, you hit your 50lb limit for most airlines before you get all your gear inside. Normally when I travel with it, I end up either packing a smaller carry-on for my regs, camera, and lights, or just paying the additional fee to get a 75lb bag. Was this review helpful? Yes No
DEEP SEE 2MM BARNACLE GLOVES
Rating:
Deep See Barnacle Gloves 9/18/2006
These gloves are great for warm water dives, or here in SoCal during the summer time. I find that these give great dexterity, but you can definitely feel thermoclines! These work great for using underwater cameras with small buttons. VERY HAPPY WITH PURCHASE! Was this review helpful? Yes No
SEALIFE MOISTURE MUNCHER
Rating:
Great Product ! 9/12/2006
I use Sealife Moisture Munchers with my current UW camera and strobe - they are great! They fit easily in the case, and change color when they are no longer functioning. One word of caution - I have seen stores selling capsules that have already turned pink (they have already been exposed to moisture). Fresh capsules should be dark blue - dont purchase (or return) any packages with pink capsules - the package probably had a leak. Was this review helpful? Yes No
SEALIFE DIGITAL STROBE
Rating:
Dependable & Rugged Strobe 9/12/2006
The SeaLife Digital Strobe was a good purchase. The item was a bit more than I had hoped to pay, but after using it, I appreciate the ruggedness and reliability it offers. My only issue was that the frame for the strobe and the mounting on my Ikelite camera case were not compatible, and the arm is a little flimsy for the weight of the camera & case. I was able to improvise to make the mounting work. Was this review helpful? Yes No
