Reviewer: Russell R.Awesome fins! - A little background about me and the types of diving I do before I talk about the fins: For my personal set of fins that I use for rec diving, I have Scubapro seawing novas. I have had these since I first started diving, and I really like them because they are gentle on the knees and ankles, and can really move when you need them to. They are awesome on flutter kicks... After I had been diving for a year or so, I started doing some volunteer work at the local aquarium. Although it is not formally "tech" diving, it is impossible to work effectively at the aquarium without doing tech style kicks. Over time, I found that I actually prefer the frog kick for getting around, and that I...View Full Review
Reviewer: Scott MichaelBest Fins Ive ever used. - ill preface this by saying that the split fin technology used in these fins is licensed by natures wing to apollo, scubapro, atomic, tusa, oceanic, dacor, sherwood, beuchat and genesis. any of these manufacturers that claims to have a "secret" design that the other dont, is referring only to details such as materials, fins strap design, batten and rib design. the basic principles and operation of these fins is identical for all of them. potentially each of these fins will work about the same for you. the key is to determine which manufacturers products fits your foot and swimming style the best. my reasons for picking apollo fins was simple: - they are 100% rubber and as such...View Full Review
Reviewer: Daniel McCarthyMares Volo Power Adjustable Strap Fins Review - Scuba Gear Reviews - I used my new fins in March for the first time in the Sarasota area of Florida. My first uses of them were for snorkeling for sea shells. The surf on many occasions was pretty heavy. The fins worked great. They provide power with minimum effort. The foot pocket is very comfortable and I did not experience any cramping in my toes or other foot discomfort. The fin straps open, close and lock nicely. I recently completed a two tank dive with them in the Gulf of Mexico and they continued to live up to my high expectations. My alternate pair of fins are Scubapro Jet Fins which I have been using for the last 10 years. These fins far outshine the Jet Fins for comfort. I highly recommend these...View Full Review
Reviewer: Erik SandstromGreat starter - I am impressed with the TUSA Liberator X-Ten. Got these for my 13-year old as he is doing his Open Water certification. Wanted a decent fin that would not break the bank - if he likes SCUBA, we can move up in gear as he grows, but didnt want to start off with top $$ stuff if he decided diving wasnt his thing. They do run slightly big - got the Mens small (4-6), though my son wears a size 8 shoe, and with a dive bootie (size 8 boot) on the size SM fin fits perfectly. Great price for a entry-level, quality fin.
Reviewer: Nick L.Good value, but beware of sizing - Pretty good fin for the price, but sizing is for use with a thin, soft sole boot. I wear a size 10 and I bought the 10-12 size figuring there would enough latitude to use a medium to heavy duty boot. A medium duty boot was very snug and I had to set the strap at its longest setting. A heavier sole will require the next size up. Used this fin in a quarry and it performed well, Not quite as powerful as my larger fins but that is the trade off for a fin that is 2-3 inches shorter.
Reviewer: Charlie G.Wondferul find for power when you need it. - I drift dive off the East Coast of Florida a good bit, and sometime have need to swim against the current. I had some split fins, and they just did not move me well. The Gorilla Novas do... they are stiff, and take some getting used to but are great fins. The are also smaller than the splits I had, and fit in my bag better. They are very easy to put on and remove in the water too. Highly recommended! The regular Novas are not as stiff, but still do a great job also. My girlfriend picked up a pair of Novas after diving with me.
Reviewer: Richard S.Solid Product - bought these for a trip to the british virgin islands. used them on 5 dives and a lot of snorkeling. they performed well. i liked the ease of the heel strap in securing them and removing them. also liked that they were generally neutrally buoyant when removedand didnt sink if released. only issue i had was that sizing ran large and had to return the first pair i ordered for a smaller set.
Reviewer: Deborah ColtunApollo Bio Pro Adjustable Strap fins - OMG, started diving late (50) and always had some trouble with leg cramping. Finally decided to look into Bio Pro after seeing them on a dive master on liveaboard. Bought a lovely PINK pair on sale, but at the price wouldnt go for the steel straps until Id given the seemingly expensive fin a trial. Just got back from a week in the Bahamas...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these seemingly expensive, heavy (on land, in the delivered box from UPS) fins. Great power with little effort, no weight in the water, super control and, most importantly, NO CRAMPS all week, not once, even loosening the adjustable straps to remove prior to climbing back aboard. Cant wait to get the spring strap, at any cost. FYI,...View Full Review
Reviewer: Heidi FickingerGreat Fins! - Recently replaced fins I had had for years that had become extensions of my feet and have struggled to find a fin that I liked and gave me both the ability to move quickly and be able to finesse in confined areas and avoid kicking corals or other objects. Silly marketing name (Smoke on the Water), but these Atomic fins are perfect. It is effortless to use them, no foot or calf strain. Lots of power to swim against currents and great on reefs where I need to just minutely move to look at a tiny fish. LOVE them and I am a hard sell. The other benefit is that they are not as heavy as my Biofins, which is a plus in todays reduction of baggage weight allowances for air travel. I HIGHLY...View Full Review
Reviewer: Gary SandersOutstanding power and control, great spring strap - Though I dive with multiple tanks and in a dry suit in California waters, I have been using Scubapro Twin Jet split fins for years as they are comfortable and gave fine control. But swimming upstream in a current seemed to need more power. I tried recent Atomic fins but found them to be too stiff and the spring strap buckles opened twice in kelp forests when kelp wrapped around the fasteners. This happened on two different pairs. When I saw these F1 bat fins, I tried them as they are more like traditional broader paddle fins. Result: While stiffer, they are easy to get used to and do indeed provide more power and quite good control for finning in reverse or rotating or station keeping or...View Full Review
Reviewer: Mike RamseyScubaPro Jet Sport Adjustable Strap Fins Review - Scuba Gear Reviews - These fins may not be as fast as some of the more expensive split fins, but for me they require little effort to keep up with my diving partner, easy to slip on and snap in the buckle and adjust the fit. Best of all I enjoyed the price.

Reviewer: Paul F.Very good paddle fin - I tried split fins but did not like the fact that they were not as maneuverable as paddle fins. I also considered the atomic blade fins but in the end I went with the Quattro plus by Mares because of price and the very positive reviews. Ive used them 10 times so far and they are easy to put on, they stay on, they dont cause leg cramps and they have plenty of power. I highly recommend these fins.
Reviewer: Robert HughesTravel Perfect - I have had the Sling Shot fins for several years now and find them absolutely fabulous! BUT- traveling with them, they can be a bit bulky and tough to pack. I bought the Hot Shots so that I had a pair that fit in my carry on luggage. Well- I just returned from Bonaire and Curacao and found them to be easy to pack as well as having all the same great features as the "Bug Boys". I love them for the size as well as the great populsion they deliver! Awesome set of fins!!!!!
Reviewer: Robert R.Good fins/great price - These fins are well made, as you would expect from Mares. They worked great in Roatan. But where lacking in power to fight the strong currents in Cozumel.
Reviewer: Jeremiah H.excellent fins if you try em, youre gonna buy em! - ive been a die-hard u.s. divers rocket fin diver since 1975. i didnt the claims of this "technological innovation" by apollo. but, i had the opportunity to try them out a couple of years ago, and i was very impressed with them. probably the hardest thing to get over, when you first use these fins, is how effortless they seem. theres so much less effort involved in the kick stroke, that you feel like you must not be doing any good, with respect to motion. but, when you see how fast youre going, youre shocked. i went out and bought a pair immediately (this purchase was a gift for a friend ive had mine for several years). i was getting ready for a dive on a dive boat, not long ago,...View Full Review
Reviewer: kristopher a.Mares Power Plana Adjustable Spring Strap Fins Review - Scuba Gear Reviews - Ultra sturdy rubber I wear size 13 they fit well with water shoes on. Id buy them again but probably wont because these will last till Jesus comes.
Reviewer: Dawn R.Mares X-Stream Adjustable Strap Fins Review - $179.95 - Scuba Gear Customer Reviews - After a week of diving in Grand Cayman, (10 dives), I am completely sold on my Mares X-Stream fins. The flexibility in the design is well balanced and packs a thrust when you need it. My legs, which normally tire easily with standard fins, felt strong and I did not experience any pain in my hips or knees. My dive partner also observed that the fin has a very controlled flex point. Highly recommend these fins!
Reviewer: Ronald CarvalhoExcellent fins! - Excellent fins at an outstanding price. I bought these for my 15 year old son who is a recently certified diver. Fins arrived on time. They are high quality and very comfortable, great for new divers as they are not too stiff.
Reviewer: Rodney WallaceSling Shot Fins - Thanks to Scuba.com’s recommendation I purchased the Aqua Lung Sling Shot Fins to replace my aging Force fins. I went to the Force fins many years ago to avoid foot and leg cramps. The Force fins work on somewhat the same principal as the Sling Shot fins. The Force fin blade expands and increases resistance on the power stroke and gives the energy back on the return stroke. When I first used the Sling Shot fins with a setting on 1 I was very disappointed. I had no power and the fins were squirrely on my feet. But on the 2 setting the fins came alive. They felt like the Force fins only with a lot more power. On setting 3 they are even more powerful but with more strain on my legs. It’ll take...View Full Review
