Aquatec Horse Collar BC Reviews

Aquatec Horse Collar BC Reviews   Horse Collar BC

Aquatec Horsecollar BC - as a longtime diver, i was thrilled to find a decent new horsecollar bc as my old one gave up the ghost a month ago after more than twenty years of faithful service. the low profile aquatec bc, with its 40 pounds of lift, fitted my needs perfectly. ive tried different vests but my personal preference for the kind of diving im doing, is a good horsecollar. four dives later im thrilled with my purchase. i have a couple of minor complaints but, overall, this horsecollar bc is a winner. when my buddy handed me a twelve-pound cannonball to bring back to the boat, there was more than adequate lift as i swam on the surface. the complaints: 1) if you have a large head and youre wearing a... Great BC! - really liked this bc. just dove with it for the first time yesterday. i felt very balanced in the water. it has two tank straps for a secure hold on your tank and a safety/height adjustment strap to go around the top just beneath the valve so that you are always in the same spot and to prevent you losing your tank in that worst case scenario (be hard to happen with this bc). my only criticism would be of the integrated weight system. i had a difficult time getting a 5lb shot weight to fit through the opening. i had one 5 and one 1 on that side. on the other i had two 3 pounders and two 1 pounders. they fit with no problem. i wouldnt use larger than a 4 lb shot weight with this bc just... A great place to start! - This BC is a great value for the dollar! It is lightweight and comfortable to travel with. The single tank band and rigid backpack give the tank great stability with minimal hassle for quick tank changes. It has plenty of accessory attachment points and large pockets for inboard storage. The integrated weight system is as good as it gets by todays standards and it has plenty of lift for warm and cold water environments. For the casual diver that travels or for beginners, this is the way to go - all the features without a high price.

Sherwood Avid 2009 BCD Reviews

Sherwood Avid 2008 - Replaced an early 90s Sherwood Freedom with this one, what a difference. No more messing around with a weight belt. This is super comfortable, lots of storage space, and lots of buoyancy control both on surface and below. Dump valves are hard to find, but Im coming from a BCD that had none, so its just a matter of getting used to it. I just came back from a trip in Victoria, British Columbia, and was one of the few that was not struggling with this or that on the boat(I hate rental gear!)

Oceanic Probe LX Bioflex BC with Quicklock Weight System Reviews

Reviewer: John Sobojinski on 2/17/2009

Probe LX - Excellent equipment. Love the weight set-up with both ditchable and fixed pockets. Easy to adjust to customize the fit and very comfortable. Enough pockets and gear rings to accomodate all your equipment. Particularly like the air release valve on the shoulder which makes getting down easier and faster than throught the inflator port. Love it. Easy to use, very well thought out. All information is easy to see as the displays are large (and I need reading glasses). Highly recommended. Scuba.com deserves 6 stars as my order was placed at 5:00p.m. and arrived at my door at 10:00a.m. the next morning, everything exactly as we ordered and just in time for our trip to Cartagena. ... Mares Dragon Airtrim BC with MRS Plus Weight System Reviews

Reviewer: Doyle Sullivan on 11/20/2006

Dragon Air Trim - I used my new Mares Dragon AT for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It took about 2 seconds to become spoiled. The power assisted deflation worked better than I expected. When one pushes the deflate button, the purge valve makes a distictive noise that that makes it easy to know how much air is being released. Also, no bubbles to disturb your view. Dont plan on using the side pockets for much storage.

Sherwood BC - I like simple equipment for diving. Had been diving with the same simple BC for about 15 years and it finially gave up. When I looked for a replacement I wanted a simple replacement. Sherwood seemed to have the BC I was looking for. This BC has good pockets with one that is secured with velcro that allows for safety items to be stored. I would like to see a d-ring added to this pocked and velcro on the other side but this is my only complaint. The BC is built very rugged, is comfortable, hasd plenty of attachment points for non-techical diving and the tank stays put. I have used it on 13 dives in Cozumel and the only issue I have noticed when compared to my old BC is it causes me to... View Full Review

Seasoft Pro BC Reviews

Reviewer: Darrell L. on 4/14/2008

SeaSoft Pro isFantastic - I find this BCD to be the best one I have ever used (at least six others). It is extremely easy to adjust and very comfortable both in and out of the water. The tank bands are the best I have ever used and give you a great level of comfort due to the dual bands. The weight pockets are also the best I have seen. If you need to dump the integrated weights, you do not lose your pockets and there is also a possibility of retrieving the weights later in their interior bright orange bag. The retractables for a small backup light and gauges are very helpful. If flashlight can be used in the daytime to see under ledges and other tight spaces and also makes a great backup light for night... View Full Review

Mares Dragon Ergo BC with MRS Plus Weight System Reviews

Mares Dragon Ergo BC with MRS Plus Weight System Reviews   Dragon Ergo BC with MRS Plus Weight System

Reviewer: Butch Amann on 9/20/2006

Mares Dragon BCD a winner - I recently purchased the Mares Dragon Ergo BCD with the MRS Plus weight system. I looked into several other models before making my decision. I am very happy with the vest. It fits well and is easy to put on and get off. The weight release system functions extremely well, and was easy to add or change weights even while underwater. The side pockets are easily accessible. The only problems I had were with the tank clamp, which seemed to be a little hard to get tight, and it did rub a bit in the front shoulder area. This may be in part due to the newness of the unit, and may get better as it is used more.
