I purchased this scooter to do shore diving in the Cayman Islands. With the proper case the transport via airline was without incident. The scooter performs well especially when you need to travel a distance to the reef and was able to do multiple dives before charging the unit. Recommend highly!!

Rating: Not bad at all

I was worried about battery life but after using in deep dives as well as shallow, I can get two dives from the batteries. They last as long as it is intermittent use and that is the best way to use them anyways! They are fun in the pool too!

Questions and Answers for Sea-Doo Seascooter RS1 Scooter (DPV):

  • Vincent:

Do they have a flashlight mount on this so I can record underwater (with my GoPro) and you can see it?

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Vincent, they do not have a mount for a light system just for the Go Pro, you could mount this light: to the top bar above the Go Pro mount for a video light with the bracket that comes with this light.

  • Brandon:

To answer Vincents question. Yet they do have a dive light attachment. It replaces the ballast on the bottom of the scooter. My question is about the 90 minute runtime. Is that on full power?

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

yes that is on full power.

  • Gerardo:

Hi, I want to purchase two of these RS-1. I scuba in the mayan riviera. Most of time is reef diving. The deepest I get is 150 feet. I live in Mexico & I want to know how much the shipping is going to be & how much normally pays for customs. Also I want to know if this is the scooter I need? Is there a better one? Thank you.

    Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

This is a good choice. You can place the order on the website. Using Amazon Checkout is the easiest way to process international orders. The shipping charge will be listed when you proceed to checkout and prior to submitting the order.

  • David:

Does the RS1 come with charger? Im 200lbs muscular, would the RS1 be a better choice than the RS2? Thanks for your time

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello David, yes the unit comes with the charger. As for what unit would be best for you is the RS2. Its going to be .75 mph slower but you will have a longer run time and the recharge is 1hr faster. Both units weight is the same and they both have the max depth of 160'.

  • Erik:

Darrick, Is that GoPro mount available here? I didnt see a link to it. Its just a simple attachment from the older year model to the handle?

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Erik, yes with the mounts that GoPro makes you can grab the and a few of these different mounts would mount to the Sea-Doo.

  • Erik:

Is this the 2014 model, with the new GoPro clip and all?

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Erik, the Go Pro mount would be a add-on cost.

  • Charley:

where near Atlanta Ga. can you go to actually touch and see one of these toys?

    Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hi Charley. Check out the manufacture for your local dealer.

  • Borja:

Hello, I would like to know if you can send this products to Europe. Thank you!

    Elliott  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

    Yes, international shipping is available.

  • Fred:

I am looking for a sea scooter that you can operate with one hand. Is is possible to operate the Sea-Doo RS1 or Sea-Doo RS2 with one hand?

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

    definitely not.

  • Ola:

Hi, I want to know if I can charge the RS1 at 230V if I have the right plug? Ola

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

If your plug is a 110V converter as well, then yes.

  • Timothy:

Can you strap it onto the bottom of a surfboard and just cruise around the lake?

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Timothy, no you would not be able to mount this to the bottom of your board. There would be no way for you to start and stop this unit from above the water.

  • Rami:

Just wanted to know why the RS1 sea scooter is advertised everywhere including your website as being able to reach a speed of up to 4.35 Mph(7kmh), when clearly it cant? I have a sea adventures business in one of the tropical island in the Pacific, and just purchased 2 RS1. We tested them in the pool, and clearly they couldnt go faster than 2.5Mph (4kmh) in top gear.

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello, I''m seeing on our site it advertises that •SPEED: Up to 3.75 mph.

  • Matías:

I need to know more information about the Sea-doo scooter rs1. It true that they fails a lots? Problems with the battery? Any personal opinions? Thanks

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Matias, I have been using these products on and off for over 10 years. I have not had any issues with the units. The reports that you have see about issues with these unit is more user error than a defect in the product. As long as you properly put take apart and put it back together properly you should not have any issues with these units.

  • Johnattan:

Hi guys, Im interested in 6x RS1 units and Im looking for the best scooter for snorkeling, Im want to cover some distance a little speed and I need a reliable machine. Which of all would you recommend for daily use, once a day. Is there any way to charge it faster? Can I get a better deal purchasing these units? Where can I get replacement parts if needed? How much would an additional battery cost? Thank you for your time, blessings

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Johnattan, if you are looking to cover the most distance when you are in the water yes this unit will get you there the quickest. This would have the fastest speed out of all the Sea-Doo scooters. Since all you are doing is snorkeling the scooter I would suggest for you would be the:

The NEW Sea Doo RS1 underwater scooter is a truly revolutionary DPV. The Sea Doo RS1 sea scooter featuring Lithium Ion power, Tri Stage Transmission and Auto Bouyancy is underwater propulsion evolved.

The next generation SEADOO SEASCOOTER RS1 underwater scooter features a next generation Lithium Ion power source and a powerful 500 Watt motor for blazing speeds up to 4.35 Mph (unheard of in a 21 lb. sea scooter), auto buoyancy, advanced tracking and maneuverability, a tri stage transmission and much more. The auto buoyancy feature uses a multi hull design allowing the RS1 to fill with water and automatically assume neutral buoyancy (buoyancy can be tweaked further with adjustable ballast).

Navigation and maneuverability is a breeze with stabilizing glide fins allowing straight line forward operation and a down force spoiler preventing upward skidding during acceleration. A three speed transmission gives flexible operation depending on your dive profile. Waterproof integrity is unparalleled with 3 stage sealing and new pressure valve technology that allows smart depressurization of the unit when surfacing. Advanced dashboard features comfort designed ergonomic triggers, LED incremental battery indicator for clear and easy battery life readings and accessory D-ring attachment points. Removable Lithium Ion battery is easily charged without removing battery from unit and charges fully in 7 hours with a run time up to 1.5 hours. Advised max depth is the standard recreational 130 ft(tested to 160 ft).
