Hello Jed, yes there is a zipper along the side that you can load or unload your items from without opening the top of the bag.

Can you dive with the bag. Such as going under about ten feet or so without the contents of the bag getting wet?

No just keeps items dry as when the bag should fall into the water. Would not trust it underwater more than a few inches.
