The bag stood up to work on a boat very well. The zipper side did not open far enough to get out my fins and had to open the top. The front pocket Velcro would not stay closed and equipment fell out of the pocket. Maybe a zipper on the front pocket would be a good option.

I havent used this product as of yet but used the main light while night diving on a recent trip to Jamaica. The price of the package made it a very good deal and it arrived in Florida in about a week. The smaller light will be a item I will carry on most dives for exploring darker areas

Rating: Perfect
Reviewer: Chase Brunton
As a first-time diver, this bag is perfect for carrying all of my things in one place. The only downside is that your stuff isnt protected very well. Other than a small pocket for your mask, everything goes in one place, which is fine for your suit, flippers, boots and gloves, but your snorkel is open to damage more easily, as its thrown in the same carrying space as those larger items.

Rating: mesh divers backpack
Reviewer: Herbert S.
Have used the backpack twice in typical dive boat settings and I am pleased with how sturdy it is and how much capacity it carries. It makes handling wet gear a snap and it seems built to last for a while.

Rating: Great wet bag

Large enough to hold all equipment for a recreational dive and strong enough to carry it. Side zipper allows easy access. Velcro on pocket does not stay closed and should be replaced with a zipper.

Easily fits all of my dive gear for transporting to and from the dive and boat, yet compact enough to bring along in my suit case while traveling! Seems to be quite sturdy as well.

I used this bag to haul all the dive equipment on a dive trip to the Caribbean. Worked great with the shoulder straps. Lots of room for fins, mask, etc. Great buy.

Questions and Answers for Scubamax Deluxe Heavy-Duty Mesh Backpack Bag:

  • Jeff:

What is a practical weight limit for the bag? I have about 50 lbs. of lead weights etc. Id like a bag for. If this isnt that strong, please let me know what I can find here that might do the trick. thanks!

Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hi Jeff, Gear bags like these were designed to hold a lot, but we don't recommend putting 50 lbs. of lead weight in them. For weights I would recommend http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-111/018240/XS-Scuba-Diving-Weight-Bag.html They were designed to carry weights.

  • Christina:

Will this bag carry fins, mask, snorkel plus one bcd you think??

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Christina, this bag is big enough to carry a full set of gear. If you would like to place an order or have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.

  • Daniel:

how much weight can this bag carry is it safe to put my regulator/computer without a protective bag at the bottom of the bag can i put my bcd with their weights (12 lbs) or is it better to put them in another bag?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Daniel, yes you can put all of your items in this bag. I would suggest that you put your regulator in the bag last and I would suggest carrying your weight in a separate bag just to save wear and tear on your gear.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

No bag is designed to hold your lead weights other than one specifically designed to carry them. Beyond that, it will easily hold the rest of your diving gear.

  • Brooke:

Hi, I was wondering if the scuba deluxe heavy duty mesh backpack bag is tall enough to fit free-diving fins? Thanks!

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

It will not be tall enough to fit free dive fins properly.

  • Laura:

What is the weight of this bag? Thanks

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    2.3 Pounds

  • Patty:

is this bag someing that could be checked and is it durable enough to survive the process?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Typically any mesh bag is not designed for check-in luggage.

  • Janet:

Is the zipper in this bag plastic or metal?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    Heavy duty plastic.

  • Tara:

Can I fit monofins in this bag?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Tara, the opening on this bag is 15". So if the width of your fins are 15" or less then yes it will fit into. If your fins are larger then 15" then no they will not fit into this bag.

The Scuba Deluxe Heavy-Duty Mesh Backpack Dive Bag has been designed to be that missing link type bag for travelers. Weighing in at just a bit over 2 pounds/1kg, it boasts the strength and durability of much heavier bags. The already heavy grade of nylon used in the mesh is made even more durable by the strong PVC coating applied to it. It offers a whopping 6750 cubic inches of space making it plenty roomy enough to hold a complete set of scuba gear. Making it the perfect bag for the vacationing or traveling diver to get your gear from the hotel or your car to the boat for your day!

The large opening at the top is secured with a drawstring closure and opens up to the full diameter of the bag for easy loading and access. As is so common with stuff sack style bags, it never fails that little bottle of defog or other small item winds up way down on the bottom of the bag. Normally a user would have to unpack numerous items from the bag laying them about the deck or the beach in everybody’s way. With this bag you simply unzip the handy zipper running the full length down the side of the bag for easy and neat access to everything inside!

Finally a durable nylon bottom with a drainage grommet in the center means you can give your gear a good dunking in the fresh water tank or hose it off right inside the bag when you’re finished for the day and hang/set it to dry without worry about water pooling in the bottom. Whether diving or snorkeling this multi-purpose bag is a can’t miss in every divers kit!
