Questions and Answers for SharkSkin ChillProof Trilaminate Micro Fleece Long Sleeve Top:

  • Mary:

Can this rash guard be worn underneath a wetsuit/springsuit? Thanks you,

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Mary Lou, yes you can wear this under your wetsuit to add more warmth to your core area.

  • Joe:

Does this have a zipper in the back or front? It would seem to be a bit easier to put on and remove wet with a small zipper.

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello, there are no zippers. You put it on and take it off just like a shirt.

  • Willie:

Would the SharkSkin ChillProof Trilaminate Micro Fleece long sleeve top and the bottoms be sufficent under a bare shell drysuit in water aproximately 50 - 55 degrees?

Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

It depends on what type of material your Drysuit is made from, your work rate, time underwater and your tolerance to cold. Usually you will also feel the cold more if you are female and/or over 50 years old. Below is a rough guide built up from those using Sharkskin Chillproof under their various types of Drysuit. TRIMLAMINATE DRYSUIT – Extreme cold water: 0 to 4 degrees C (32 to 39 degrees F) – Sharkskin Chillproof undergarment + 400 gram additional undergarment. Up to 16 degrees C (61 degrees F) – Sharkskin Chillproof undergarment + 200 gram additional undergarment, Over 16 degrees C (61 degrees F) – Sharkskin Chillproof undergarment by itself. NEOPRENE DRYSUIT – Drysuit + Sharkskin Chillproof undergarment by itself. The Sharkskin Chillproof undergarment wicks moisture and sweat away from your skin to keep you dry and warm, and if you do have a Drysuit leak Sharkskin still keeps you warm.

These 100% Chillproof pants are equally suitable teamed up with a top, under a Drysuit, or by themselves for kayaking. They are cut with a high rear waist for comfort and warmth, provide protection from chaffing when dry and peace of mind knowing that if you do get wet you will still be warm. Chillproof pants can be worn in combination with all other Sharkskin garments.

By itself or underneath a long sleeve wetsuit this top provides the ultimate protection from cold and wind. It has a soft neoprene neck seal to help keep wind, water, spray and waves from entering. The long sleeves offer additional protection from the cold and sun and the thumb tabs assist when pulling a wetsuit on over the top.

Sharkskin Chillproof is an aquatic specific, windproof 3-layer composite material that has been developed for water sports athletes.
The comfortable ‘micro fleece’ layer is next to the skin and ‘wicks’ moisture and sweat away from the body to help keep you dry. The second middle ‘technical’ layer is 100% windproof yet breathes to regulate body temperature while stopping windchill. The third outer layer is a nylon/lycra blend for abrasion resistance and 4 way stretch. It is also UV resistant for sun protection and has a durable water repellent finish (DWR) to provide a protective shell that ‘sheds’ water. Sharkskin Chillproof is neutrally buoyant, anti-microbial, odour resistant, itch resistant and machine washable.
