Dove with the main light during night dive and performed well. The on/off switch is quite stiff and need to use the other hand. Due to its extra weight, need to adjust your weight accordingly.

Questions and Answers for Princeton Tec Tropic Light Pack:

  • José:

Greetings, Is it possible to unmount the optic and electrical circuitry from a Princeton Shockwave II flashlight and leave the housing intact? Thank you for your time

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

That would be a question better directed to the manufacturer.

SHOCKWAVE II
205 lumens of warm incandescent light are sure to bring out the true beauty of the ocean. While LEDs have recently taken the forefront in the dive light world, Xenon dive lights are still preferred by many divers for their lighter weight and color temperature that has the ability to bring out the natural colors of the reef. And with 8C batteries and a burntime of ten hours, the Shockwave II is made to provide divers with the best night dive experience possible.

FOCUSED WIDE BEAMS
This beam pattern is an excellent choice for multipurpose activities. At close range, focused wide beams simulate normal daylight conditions and allow you to take advantage of your peripheral vision.

MULTIPLE MODES
Multiple settings on many of our products give you the flexibility to adjust your light’s brightness and/or beam width to illuminate greater distances or to conserve battery power, depending on your needs.

UL CERTIFICATION
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is an independent, not-for-profit product-safety testing and certification organization. They have been testing products for public safety for more than a century. In order for a product to bear the certified UL Mark, it must pass all UL requirements at their testing facility. Princeton Tec lights that are UL certified fall into one of the following classifications: Class I – Division II – Groups A, B, C, & D or Class II - Division II – Groups F, & G. Refer to the comparison chart in the rear of the catalog. Class I – Division II – Groups A,B,C,& D will be noted with one (+) Class II – Division II – approved for Groups F, & G, will be noted with two (++).

WATERPROOF - LEVEL 3
The highest of Princeton Tec’s ratings, Level 3 is assigned to lights that offer a degree of water protection equivalent to IPX8 in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. Lights rated at Level 3 provide waterproof integrity for continual submersion in water at depths down to 100 meters.

WEIGHT - 1021
Princeton Tec’s advertised product weights always include batteries. For many products, battery weight is a large percentage of overall weight. Weight can be significantly reduced by using lithium batteries in lithium-compatible products.

XENON BULBS
XENON BULBS come closest to replicating the color temperature of daytime light. They also generate about twice the brightness and consume about half the power of traditional halogen bulbs.

Halogen and Xenon Lights are well-suited to applications where a long-throwing beam is required such as caving and search and rescue. They are less desirable for longer-term, backcountry uses, where weight and battery efficiency are a must.

---------------------------

TEC 40

The halogen bulb version of our Impact XL provides superior light-output-to-weight ratio. With the same ruggedness and rubber overmold as the Impact XL, the halogen bulb provides a warmer light underwater. This light is great for backup, or as a primary daytime light, as the warm light is phenomenal for restoring lost colors on the reef. With a classic dive light look and feel, the twist-activated switch prevents accidental on/off.

FOCUSED NARROW BEAMS
This pattern creates a long, powerful beam of light excellent for illuminating distant areas. The resulting long-throw spotlight is especially well-suited for night hiking and search and rescue.

HALOGEN BULBS
HALOGEN BULBS work in exactly the same way as traditional incandescent bulbs found in your home with one major difference: they contain halogen gas instead of nitrogen or argon. This difference allows the bulb to burn brighter, more efficiently, and for longer periods of time. The bulb needs to be replaced less frequently since filament life is extended.

LUMEN 28
The light output of Princeton Tec lights is measured in lumens. A lumen is unit derived by the International System of Units (SI) for measuring light output.

A vital part of any outdoor enthusiast’s equipment bag, the Eco Flare can be set on constant, high-output, incandescent mode for use as an area/personal locator light, or on flashing, red Ultrabright LED mode for low-visibility, dark nights. The Ultrabright LED will burn in excess of 500+ hours on 2 AAA alkaline batteries. The Eco Flare can also be attached to your dog’s collar for easy identification in low light conditions.
