Rating: sealife flash review

I wanted to review the flash link I ordered for my dc 600 camera.
The link was easy to install on my reef master flash unit. Assembly time for this install is about 5 minutes.
The tools included are all that is required for the install.
I would say that you strip the fiber optic cable longer than what the instructions say closer to 1/2 inch. This allows the flash from the camera to be able to be picked up easer by the fiber optic cable.
Over all the flash link cable is a must have if you allready have the remote flash unit and are purching a camera like I did.

Got flashlink for Sealife DC500 camera and strobe. It is easy to install, however the loose wire from camera flash to strobe is begging to get snagged. I anchored it down with plastic ties. Have used on 4 dives. Worked great on 3 of them. Had some flash issues on the fourth but worked fine afterwards. Possible that I forgot to wait for the flash on the DC 500 to recharge. The camera flash has to be ready to fire to cause the strobe to fire. Appears that strobe recharges faster than the camera flash does

Rating: Sealife Flashlink Not Required but Really Helps
Reviewer: Debbi St.Germain, Tuesday, September 19, 2006
This optical cable for the Sealife flash and digital camera is not required for operation of these products, but when using the DC200 Digital camera with the flash, you must use the diffuser and also have the camera positioned directly under the flash to ensure synchronization of the two. Use of the flashlink optical cable makes this foolproof. Id recommend using it to avoid losing some great underwater shots!

The flashlink worked well after a little bit of playing. I have an older reefmaster strobe and found it would not stay in place on its own because it does have a carved out setting. So I used the velcro that was provided in the kit and stuck the optic cable in place. Took a little bit of repositioning to get it to fire every time, but it worked well. I would recommend.

Rating: works good
Reviewer: Jamie Hamlin, Sunday, March 11, 2007 - View all my reviews
the flashlink works good unless you knock it out
of allignment with the flash on the camera while
taking it out of the camera case which is what I
have done twice now not knowing it till the flash
does not go off on the first picture so I have got
into a habit of checking this after I enter the water.

Rating: A Must Have Item

This is an accessory that you cannot do without. It works so much better to synchronize strobes. I have 2 external strobes and using 2 flash links I was able to get both strobes to flash EVERY time without problems.

The flash link helps allot with flash timing.
With the camera an forced flash it works every time plus it helps with the irritating flash if it picks up light from some other light source on a night dive.
