Rating: Great Alternative to buying an expensive underwater camera
Reviewer: Linda M., Sunday, October 28, 2007 - View all my reviews
This housing allows you to use your regular digital camera under water up to 130 feet. Very easy to use, once you have read through the instructions. I just returned from a trip where I took over 300 pictures, and each time I dove, the housing worked great. No leaks, no problems. I would suggest buying the weights, it is very buoyant even with the weight of the camera.

Rating: Great investment

The first time I put my camera into this housing I was terrified. I could just see my 7.2 MP Canon camera with water running out of the lens. To my delight that did not happen! What I got out of the camera were some great shots of fish nesting in the bottom of the local quarry. Use of the housing is cumbersome when wearing gloves. The controls are a bit close together. This is required of course for the compact size. The user MUST use the flash lens with the camera. Otherwise you will end up with a big dark spot in the lower right corner of the pictures. Use the housing on dry land a while before diving with it so you do waste time and air fumbling for the controls. And DONT forget the silicone grease on the o-ring! The one thing that I would re-work would be the buoyancy. The housing is very positively buoyant. I know there is a weight kit available for the housing. However, if Canon KNOWS the camera and housing will float, why not include the weight kit with the purchase? The semi-mechanically inclined user will able to create a weight kit to make the system balance buoancy. Overall the housing is a good deal. Shop it well. Prices will vary from retailer to retailer. Scuba.com matched another retailers price for me as with several other items I have purchased. Cudos for that! I look forward to using my camera and housing in deeper water with more interesting subjects. I would give it 5 stars if not for the tendency to float.
