Rating: How bad do you want to be heard?
Reviewer: David F. Wyckoff, Saturday, October 14, 2006 - View all my reviews
Overall I am happy with our Scub-Alert air horns. Underwater the Scub-Alert works well and does get the attention of the people around you with a "quack" sound, however, on the surface it is not as loud as I expected, in the ocean with all of the ambient noise I would not expect it to be heard past a hundred feet if even that far (my wife disagrees and says fifty feet if even). If you are looking for a Scub-Alert of this type I would recommend finding one with a loud shrill or a sound that is more likely to be heard as a distress sound and travels further.

Rating: Not very good underwater
Reviewer: Vitaly Gritsenko, Wednesday, August 22, 2007 - View all my reviews
Although its very loud on the surface, nobody can clearly hear it underwater if you are beyond about 10 meters apart. I found a trick, if you can see other person, watch when he inhales and then sound the scub-alert, otherwise the bubbles sound blocks all other sounds around the diver

Rating: SCUB-ALERT SURFACE AND UNDERWATER AIR HORN
Reviewer: paul erben, Friday, October 27, 2006
I am fairly impressed with the horn, my only dissappointment is that it is not quite as loud underwater as I had hoped. However, having said that, it is an important addition to a divers bag of safety devices to be carried at all times, especially when drift diving. Regards

Reviewer: Barry Cline, Sunday, July 01, 2007 - View all my reviews
We dive in the Pacific Northwest and wear heavy hoods for the water temps tried these a couple times and could not hear them, we are going to Roatan next week and wil try them again. Not real loud on the surface either.

great device for teaching...not too loud on surface, but enough to contact boat at 100 yards. under water, the quack does not frigthen the students but rather gathers their attention and dms notice and react fast.

Rating: Great product

This is a great signaling device under the water as well as at the serface. Much louder than the standard whistle. Only draw back is you need air in your tank so keep your whistle in a pocket just in case.

Rating: Scub-Alert signaling device
Reviewer: Maribel A., Sunday, January 14, 2007
Somewhat disappointed. Although this device supposedly has standard connector to standard inflator hoses, this one will not connect to my new Kaila Mares BCD.

Works as designed when hooked up to the BC. Never had a chance to use cant tell if an inflatable sausage would be a better investment.

Rating: Thought this was supposed to be Loud
Reviewer: Mark H., Tuesday, January 15, 2008 - View all my reviews
It sounds like a duck. It is also hard to hold without dampening the sound. I guess I expected more for the price I had to pay.
