As far as a weight integrated BC goes, theyre clearly more comfortable than an "old school" weight belt. The Mares Mechanical Release System (MRS) is one of the easiest and most efficient integrated weight systems Ive used in some 30 years of diving!

While very stylish and easy to identify and reach I think Mares missed the boat on this one. There are many release systems out there that work quite well, which makes me wonder why Mares tried to re-invent the wheel here. They are difficult to mount in the BC and one in particular is very difficult to release. This could be dangerous for beginner divers in an emergency situation. The sliding plastic latch idea is way off since plastic on plastic in a confined space tends to bind up. While Ill continue using them I will stare longingly at other releasable weights.
