This vest is just what I needed. I really dont like cold water but love to swim and need the exercise. I have been using this vest and it is great. Keeping the core body warm improves the entire experience and I can stay in the water longer. The fit of the jacket is very tight, but it stretches a little when wet and I have full body movement. I used the size chart and ordered the XL, even though a medium or large or a 12 is my normal size. It is unfortunate that this is the largest ladies size. There really should be larger sizes available for women. I look forward to testing my vest in the Caribbean in December :)

No kidding, the vest fits me perfect! Works great for rafting on cool days and is fantastic for flying a hull on the catamaran. Some reviewers said it was to short but I have a shorter body and it fits me to a tee! It is really attractive too I get complements when I wear it.

Excellent product. Following the body sizing chart the vest fits great. Nice and light for snorkelling and provides extra bouyoncy in the water. So pleased with the original vest that I ordered three more since other members of the family liked the vest as well. Thanks Scuba.com for the timely deliveries all the way to Nova Scotia, Canada.

Rating: Comfortable Vest
Reviewer: Susan S.
I bought this as an extra layer for diving to keep me warmer under my 3 mil wetsuit in cooler water temperatures. I tried it out recently over my swimsuit while swimming off a boat in cool lake water temperatures and found it to be very comfortable - so much so, that after getting out of the water I forgot I had it on. I am 57" 140 lbs 34B and 7/8 (M) fits me well.

The jacket has a great fit a d is light weight. It was perfect for snorking in warmer water. I ordered the jacket for warmth, sun protection on back, protection from stinging coral and extra buoyancy. It was great!

I just came back from a weeks diving on Little Cayman and wore this vest for nearly every dive. I always use a full skin, so the vest and skin made a perfect combination. Even on the 4th dive of the day, I never got cold. I had to return the first one for a size larger, so order up.

I purchased this vest to help keep me warm during water aerobics where the water can be quite chilly. It really worked!

Rating: Front Zip Vest for Warmth
Reviewer: Judith J.
I just returned from a diving trip in Indonesia and began using the front zip vest after the first few days of diving. Worn under a 3mm wet suit, it added just enough warmth to enable me to stay down comfortably for 60+ minutes. The vest fit me well and it also fit under the wet suit without feeling bulky. I tend to get cold toward the end of a dive, especially on a multidive day, and the vest helped me stay warm. Ill definitely take it with me on my next trip.

Rating: 3mm barriere front zip body glove vest
Reviewer: Regina B.
The web page was easy to use and ordering from there was simple as well. When reviewing the sizes, however, it only mentioned weight and bust size. I followed that in order to get the right size which said it would have been an XL. When I got it the size was actually at 10-12. The wet suit I just purchased was a 14. So I had to send it back as it was to small. The return was just as simple as the ordering. I was impressed with the way the entire transaction was handled and would certainly deal with Scuba.com in the future.

Questions and Answers for Body Glove 3mm Barrier Front Zip Womens Wetsuit Vest:

  • cher:

I want some buoyancy to help me in my triathlon swim, but not looking for a vest and I dont want a full wet suit. Will this give me some added buoyancy?

Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hi Cher, This vest will offer you a little buoyancy. Below is a link to the triathlon suits. They are designed to swim in. http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-608/Swimming-Triathlon.html

  • Brian:

I am competing in a triathlon this weekend and need the product delivered Saturday morning. If I order today, is it guaranteed that the prodeuct will arrive Saturday morning (barring any delivery service issues)?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

For questions regarding inventory and delivery please contact our instructors at info@scuba.com

  • Michelle:

I just ordered the medium of this vest and its great but the chest is too big. Yet it fits everywhere else. Would I be better off exchanging it for a small? Im tall so I ordered the medium(59" and 148lbs). I have a triathlon next weekend and I need this fast!

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Michelle, Your replacement vest is on it's way. Good Luck!

  • Scott:

i seem to fall squarely into body gloves mt size (im 61", 160lbs), but dont see that size offered for this item what would you recommend? thank you!

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Scott, when you are sizing a wet suit or dive skin. The two most important measurements are going to be your chest/bust and waist. Height is a secondary measurement and weight is the last measurement you take into account.

  • Mary:

Hi. I want to buy this vest but I am a size 14. The comment section indicated your XL would be too small. Can you advise me maybe on one of the mens sizes or a comparable product in the same price range? Thanks

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The chest and waist measurements are the most important and can be used to fit a woman into a man's size.

  • Kb:

Can this vest or others similar to this be used in place of a life vest/jacket? Thanks.

Greg  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

No, this vest cannot be used as a life jacket. The Body Glove 3mm vest is to provide a measure of warmth and environmental protection. Life Jackets need to be USCG approved.

  • Priscilla:

I really like this vest and wonder if it has enough stretch for my bust of a 40C. ordering the XL size. I want to use it for snorkleing in Hawaiian waters in a month. Time frame from Oct thru December. Do you think it will fit me? I would also like to order wet suit shorts, too Thanks Priscilla PS I am a 66 y/o female

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Priscilla, yes you would be good in the women XLarge. If you want a few more inches to play with take a look at the men large sizing I think that would work a little better for you. As for the shorts I would suggest the Neosport by Henderson 1.5mm XSPAN Super-Stretch Wetsuit Shorts web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-43/148911/Neosport-by-Henderson-1.5mm-XSPAN-Super-Stretch-Wetsuit-Shorts.html. If you have any other questions or would like to place an order please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.

  • stefan:

im looking at this vest to wear with nothing under it. do i go a size smaller? im a dude with a 39.5 chest, 510" and 175lbs. thx!

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Stefan, the size that I would suggest for you is the size medium.

  • Forrest:

I swim in my community pool every day. Once summer is gone it starts getting cool. Is a body glove (front zipper) vest your recommendation? I looked at 6% short sleeve Rash Guard too. Im 185 Lbs and my chest is 42 but my waist (middle) is 44. Im 5" 11" Would a XLarge Short or 2Xlarge short be most comfortable?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The sizing charts show all the sizes for all the products made by each manufacturer. Not all products are made in all sizes. Such is the case with the vests. They are not made in the "short" or "long" sizing as they are open at the bottom of the torso. With your given dimesnions, you are going to be looking at the XL sizing.

  • Jeanette:

    Waist - 35" Bust - 41 " Height - 54" Will the womens XL fit me?

Greg  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The Women's XL might be a little on the small side for you. You might also cinsider and Men's Large.

  • Forrest:

To: Cert. Instr Bob: Further response to my earlier question "I swim ..." You recommended XL size. Should I order a 2XL as well so I can be sure and get the best fit? Second, what 6% short sleeve Rash Guard size would be a comparable size for me? Im going to order both Body Glove Vests and Rash Guards. Just want to sure on the sizing.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Forrest, when you are sizing items like this. The two most important measurements are going to be your chest and waist. Height is a secondary measurements and weight you throw out the window.

  • Mike:

How much buoyancy does you zip up vests have? Looking at the 2 and 3m

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Unfortunately there is no calculation available for the amount of positive buoyancy the vests provide.

  • sally:

i swim in a cold pool. my current EVO 2mm wet suit vest deteriorated after about 5 months in the pool. will this vest hold up longer than 5 months? also, i have a 34 inch chest, i am 54" and i weight about 125. what size, in womens, should i purchase.

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The waist and chest are the most important measurements for the fit with a vest. Unfortunately, chlorine is very hard on the wetsuit material. Rinsing with freshwater as soon as you get out of the pool will help.

  • Mary:

Body glove has no chest or waist measurements guidelines for this vest - only weight and height ? ! Help !

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Weight will be the most important then. If you have worn a wetsuit before you can order the same size.

  • NG:

I do not know what is my size

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The most important measurements any time you purchase a wetsuit or other wetsuit type item using the manufacturer's sizing charts will always be your waist and chest/bust measurements. The suit needs to fit your torso correctly in order to do its job properly. Keep in mind there is no such thing as a comfortable wetsuit on the surface. You want it to be snug, but not cut off circulation to your extremities. The more snug it is, the thinner the layer of water your body is heating. If its too loose you will remain warm for awhile, but eventually your body won't be able to keep up with the greater amount of water flowing through the suit and you'll wind up getting cold faster. After that your height is a secondary measurement. The manufacturers realize that generally speaking your boots and gloves can overlap slightly short arms and legs, or the diver can push or roll up longer sleeves and/or arms if need be. Weight is a measurement the diver can usually ignore. It really has little to no bearing what so ever on the sizing and fit of your suit. The manufacturers do not take into account muscle being more dense than fat, so based simply on fitness levels 2 people can be the exact same size but quite different in weight. This measurement should only be used if the person is literally on the fence between 2 sizes in all categories.

  • Michele:

I have the womens Neosport 2.5mm vest size 6 but I would prefer a vest a little longer. It looks like the Bodyglove vest is longer. What are the measurements of the womens Bodyglove 3mm vest (from top to bottom)?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Unfortunately it'll change by size. For more detailed information please contact our instructors at info@scuba.com or 800-34SCUBA

  • Evelyn:

I am a female, my chest is 40DD and my waist is 42. What size body glove vest do I need, is it the men XL or the men 2XL?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Your sizing does not match the Body Glove Products chart for either category. The XL is for a waist of 35" - 39" and a chest/bust of 42"-44". The 2lx is for a waist of 37-39" and a chest/bust of 45-47"

  • Douglas:

HI, i have had chest surgery and Iam looking for something that will give me a little extra compression to support my best and stomach. will this work like the compression tees i currently wear?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Douglas, when you are sizing a wetsuit or dive skin. The two most important measurements are going to be your chest/bust and waist. Height is a secondary measurement and weight is the last measurement you take into account. If you are between sizes then go with the smaller of the two and yes this would work like you are looking for.

  • Mike:

I have a chest port for plasmaphoresis and the dressing can not get wet. I am looking for a wetsuit vest that will keep it dry when I swim.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Mike, the only option I know of that would do what you are looking for. Keep your chest dry is a Dry Suit: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-19/Dry-Suits-Dry-Suits.html. All the manufacture make them so a thin layer of water is trapped between you and the suit.

  • Cindy:

how much does the vest weigh? exactly?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Cindy, you are looking at 2 lbs.
