Rating: Great wetsuit!

This was my third try - I purchased two different BARE wetsuits and neither fit well, they were especially tight in the neck. This Henderson suit cost more but it fits great and kept me toasty warm in the 79 degree water off the coast of Roatan!

Rating: Henderson 5mm Aqua Lock Hyperstretch Wetsuit
Reviewer: Hideaki K.
It is very warm wetsuit due to Aqua Lock which prevents from extra water to come into interior of suit. Unfortunately I could not receive any discount because of declaration of stacked two promotion codes. At the same time I received two promotion codes of 20 per cent discount and it of 5 per cent discount so.

Questions and Answers for Henderson 5mm Aqua Lock Hyperstretch Mens Wetsuit:

  • Richard:

I noticed that the Aqua Lock product description does not mention a spine support pad as is included in the standard H2. Is that a text oversight or does the Aqua Lock not have the spine pad?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Richard, yes there is a spine pad that runs along the zipper and a pad that runs right below the zipper across the back for added warmth.

  • Alex:

What is the difference between this suit and H2 suit with a similar name?

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello, this is a similar suit to the H2. I would go with the Henderson Aqualock. It has better seals and less leak points.

  • Jake:

Hello Im 64 210lbs with a real athletic build. Broad shoulders 35 inch waist. Can you recommend any wetsuit that would fit me well. I cant find any for tall and really athletic with small waist.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Jake, when you are sizing a wetsuit or dive skin. The two most important measurements are going to be your chest/bust and waist. Height is a secondary measurement and weight is the last measurement you take into account. The manufacture that I have found that work well for big chests and smaller waist is the Pinnacle line.

  • Alice:

I just bought the Henderson 5mm aqua lock in Womens size 8. It is SO tight in the neck seal it literally blocks my neck veins and they start bulging immediately, that is with or without having the Velcro neck attachment open or closed. I am 58", 120 pounds, chest 32, waist 26 and hips 35, with a long torso 27 inches. The size 8 feels fairly loose in legs and way loose under arms, but the torso length is riding up my rear end. I was considering a Mens XS as a better fit for me. Please advise me, my first thought was to cut a slash or a v in the neck seal, otherwise it would be unwearable because of the neck tightness.

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello, that could work. I''m not liking how the hip/waist are matching up. I would go with the men''s small.

  • Ricky:

    What size should I order? 6`1" 200lbs

Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Use the sizing chart keeping mind to look at waist and chest measurements as the two most important measurements, then height as a secondary measurement. Use weight only to tip the scales one way or another between sizes. After that pick the suit with the best fit for your body.

  • Tony:

would this be suitable for kitesurfing ?

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello, yes this suit would be great for kite surfing.

  • Linda:

Good afternoon. I am a 5ft 5 inch woman with long legs, long arms, and broad shoulders. I weight 113 pounds and my measurements are 37 bust, 26 waist and 34 hips. The widest part of my thigh is around 18 inches. I need a wetsuit that will give me enough upper body width and is not large in the hips and thighs. Most of the suits that fit the bottom of my body are really tight in the shoulders and bust line. I am looking for a 5mm wetsuits as I am always cold. The current one I have is a henderson size 4 3mm that somewhat fits because it stretches a lot but does not keep me warm even with adding a sleeveless 3mm henderson vest. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Linda, to give you a little more length in the suit I would suggest going up one size to small (5-6). I think that would be a better fit on you then the size XSmall (3-4).

  • Hector:

I bought a large Henderson 5mm Aqua lock wetsuit but did not realize that that the suit would take or hold water inside and went you come out of the water the water become trap an balong just above your ankles and will not come out untill you star taking it off. Not one suggested at the store that a medium long would fix better . Now I try to go back to the store and they would not exchange for a different size. Anything I could do ??? Is really very awfull the look an people laugh. I fell like waist the money away. Would Henderson company can help me??? I use it only once and refuse to use it again because do not think it was fair the store not mentioned this to me . I have another wetsuit and never does this. I fell that this detail must be mentioned went intend to buy one. Any suggestion or I wast taken by the store,or can Henderson company can help me????

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Hector, it would be a used refund but if you bought the suit from us we can exchange the suit for a different size. If you bought the suit from someone else then you would need to contact the manufacture directly they would be able to help you out.

  • Christine:

I tried on a henderson hyperstretch size 6 and it fit perfect. (I currently have a henderson, size 6, 5mm, but it is compressed to about a 3mm now, so I need more warmth.) I would like to try the aqua lock, but I noticed they only come in S, M, L, .... Im not sure what size to order. I am 53", 125-130lbs, chest is 35, waist 29-30, hips around 40. What size would you recommend?? Thank you so much, Christine

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Christine, you would be a size small in this suit if your a size 6 in a women hyperstretch.

  • junggyu:

Im not sure what size to order. I am height 68.5in, weight 150lbs What size would you recommend??

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The most important measurements any time you purchase a wetsuit using the manufacturer's sizing charts will always be your waist and chest/bust measurements. The suit needs to fit your torso correctly in order to do its job properly. Keep in mind there is no such thing as a comfortable wetsuit on the surface. You want it to be snug, but not cut off circulation to your extremities. The more snug it is, the thinner the layer of water your body is heating. If its too loose you will remain warm for awhile, but eventually your body won't be able to keep up with the greater amount of water flowing through the suit and you'll wind up getting cold faster. After that your height is a secondary measurement. The manufacturers realize that generally speaking your boots and gloves can overlap slightly short arms and legs, or the diver can push or roll up longer sleeves and/or arms if need be. Weight is a measurement the diver can usually ignore. It really has little to no bearing what so ever on the sizing and fit of your suit. The manufacturers do not take into account muscle being more dense than fat, so based simply on fitness levels 2 people can be the exact same size but quite different in weight. This measurement should only be used if the person is literally on the fence between 2 sizes in all categories.

  • Andrei:

Hello, Please help me with this decision regarding the size: Im 58, 180 pounds, chest 45", waist 36". According to the measurement table i should be getting and extra large short, but im afraid that would be too long for my height. Opting for large short would be a tight fit on torso area. Please advice! Thank you!!!

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Waist and Chest are the 2 most important measurements. Height is secondary. The suit needs to fit the torso first and most importantly to do it''s job correctly. The manufacturers know that boots and gloves can overlap if a bit short or that sleeves and legs and be rolled or pushed up if need be, so long as the torso fits correctly.

  • Chris:

Im heading to the Galapagos. Will this suit be warm enough? I typically dive with a 1 mil in the Carribean

Chance  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

This suit should be plenty warm enough for that water temperature. I might even recommend a 3mm suit.
