Works well, price was right - breathe in, breathe out. Okay, when we are diving the snorkel really is secondary, if that - but, when needed (that swim out from (or back to) shore, etc., it does the job. Fits well, and it does stay dry.

I recently took a refresher course before leaving for a sailing/diving vacation. In the process of upgrading my goggles for prescription I also purchased the Ocean Quest Pacific Totally Dry Snorkel. I used it in the refresher Padi Diving Course in our local pool. I was happy to see it indeed was a dry snorkel. It clears easily, never seems to leak water into the snorkel while in use and was really a very comfortable option for a relatively new diver. I highly recommend Ocean Quest Pacific Totally Dry Snorkel!

I bought one of these snorkels to use with my ScubaMax mask. They are a great team. It took me a while to become comfortable breathing through my mouth with my face in the water. This fine product helped me gain confidence quickly and soon I was really enjoying myself. The purge valve is great and allows clearing the snorkel without having to surface or raise your face out of the water. Id recommend this snorkel to anyone looking for high quality (and the price is very affordable).

Recently purchased the carribean snorkel package for my wife and I and this is what came in the set up. Loved the snorkels on our recent vacation to Cozumel and Isla Roatan. Works how they state. Kept us from mouthfuls of salt water and let us enjoy our trip.

Rating: Great snorkel for big AND small people.

I bought my first one of these Ocean Quest Dry Snorkels thinking that it was a "childs" snorkel, because it was the so-called "mini" version. In fact, the one that I got was simply the full adult snorkel with a childs mouthpiece on it. But, honestly, the snorkel seemed as big as any that I had ever seen and I was quite concerned that my 7-year-old daughter would be rebreathing so much of her own air that it would leave her feeling short of breath. So, I took her to the neighborhood pool to have her test it out (along with her fantastic new Ocean Quest mask) and she just loved it, unambiguously reporting that she wasnt in the slightest feeling short of breath. (She looked stricken when I even brought up the possibility of exchanging it.) Looking at the 48 pounds that she is soaking wet, I dont know what to say other than I then went and bought two more (this time with the full-size mouthpieces) for my wife and myself and the three of us just came back from a fantastic week in Hawaii in which we spent many joyous and properly oxygenated hours snorkeling. (I would enthusiastically add that I got some very good presales help from the Scuba.COM staff.)

Snorkel does a great job keeping water out. No issues clearing the snorkel when water did get it. Never felt uncomfortable using this snorkel. I have been diving and snorkeling for 20+ years and love this product. My wife is new to snorkeling and also thought the product was easy and comfortable to use. Would recommend this product to anyone.

I dont know what the expectation is with a "totally dry" snorkel, but to read the descriptor one would think that one would NEVER have to clear the device when snorkeling. This was not my experience. I found that I had to clear from time to time. Still, a very good product that worked well. I would buy it again

My first use of the snorkel was on a whale shark snorkel excursion and it kept flooding from the bottom on me!! I was so upset because I couldnt swim as fast as I could to keep up with the whale sharks because I kept sucking in water! I was ready to throw it away! I used it one more time on another snorkel excursion and it worked just as it should so Im not sure about it.

Has some special function (as yet unexplored) that does keep it dry. I used for diving first and now I use it in the pool for daily swims. The attaching clip is not as "positive" as I might choose for open water but it has not come off yet in the pool.

The two snorkels I ordered from Scuba.Com were for a future trip to the Florida Keys in July. Well as that trip has not yet happened I cannot report on them then. But to date, I have tested the snorkels and found them to be dry. I line the flexible part with the mouth piece as it helps to relieve jaw ache. High marks for the products as well as the seller. Bothe seem to live up to all expectations.

Questions and Answers for Ocean Quest Pacific Totally Dry Snorkel:

  • Megan:

Loads of snorkels to choose from! What do you recommend? Beginner diver.

Clarke  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Megan, Thank you for your inquiry The Ocean Quest Pacific Totally Dry Snorkel is probably the best snorkel on the market for a diver or a snorkeler. It easily attaches to the mask strap on the left side of your head and as long as the mouthpiece stays in you mouth, it will not allow water to enter the snorkel. With this feature, clearing the snorkel is not necessary. http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-39/039507/Ocean-Quest-Pacific-Totally-Dry-Snorkel.html If you have other questions, need help or would like to place an order, please contact SCUBA.com by calling 800-247-2822 <> 949-221-9300 or e-mail us at: info@scuba.com

  • Roger:

hi, im thinking of purchasing the- ist full mask-silicone - mfg.part # m37bs, im one of those persons, who cant handle a mouth piece. i was born with a cleft lip & palate, and have dentures. would this mask, be able to allow a snorkel where i dont have to mouth piece in my mouth. or do i need a special hook up for the snorkel & mask?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Roger, you would attach the snorkel to the mouth opening just like you would attach a regulator to the mask.

  • Susan:

My husband is a large man. About 280 lbs and a size 12 shoe. What mask and fins would fit him?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

For more specific details on sizing and fit of products please contact our instructors at 800-34SCUBA or info@scuba.com

  • joseph:

I have the ocean quest dry snorkel, it is taking in water when I breathe, there seems to be a piece off the mouthpiece bottom. Can this be fixed? is there a part or do I need a new snorkel? thanks

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The snorkel has a 1 year warranty protecting from defects. I'd print off the RMA form found @ http://www.scuba.com/rma.asp and send it back for repair/replacement.

  • scott:

what is the difference between an ultra dry snorkel, a dry snorkel and a semi-dry snorkel and an average everyday snorkel? which is best and why?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Scott, the ultra dry and dry snorkel has a valve at the top of the snorkel that will not let water go down the snorkel when you have the mouthpiece in your mouth. The semi dry snorkel will divert most of the water if a wave breaks over your head to let the least amount go down the snorkel tube. As for a standard snorkel if a wave breaks over your head or you dive under the water your snorkel will fill up and you will have to purge the water out before you can breath threw it.

  • jim:

difference between - totally dry & ultra dry snorkels ???

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Jim, just the name. They are both designed to stop water going down the tube when you have the mouthpiece in your mouth. So when you come back up to the surface or the waves pass you can take a breath of air without having to purge your snorkel.

  • scott:

Darrick: as a follow-up to previous ? re: different snorkels...if that is the case, why would anyone chose anything other than an ultra dry or dry snorkel?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Free Divers don't prefer dry snorkels as it creates a vacuum when they dive. Scuba Divers often don't care either way as they take it out of their mouth when underwater anyway, and it fills with water then.

  • carl:

Hi Im wondering if there is a site to buy a package deal for five snorkles at once instead of individually

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Yes! It''s called Scuba.com! Just contact our instructors at inf@scuba.com or 800-347-2822 and we''ll get you all set.

  • kathy:

I recently purchased a Superview Oceanways "HD" mask but did not get a snorkel with it. What snorkel would you recommed to purchase with this mask.

Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hi Kathy, The Ocean Quest dry snorkel is a great option on snorkels. It is really nice because it keeps water from coming in through the top of it.

  • Jan:

I have had surgery on my lower lip and cant get a good pucker with the standard snorkel mouthpiece. I take in a lot of water around the mouthpiece. Is there a special snorkel for someone with my problem?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

There is really nothing like what you are describing available from scuba manufacturers. One avenue you might explore is putting the snorkel into an inexpensive Full Faced Mask. For more details regarding this, please contact our instructors at info@scuba.com

  • Joanne:

Our family is going to Cayman Islands and want to snorkel. Two adults and a 25 and 1a 8 yr old. We just want to pack our own snorkel. Will rent fins and masks there. What would you suggest for beginners.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Joanne, then this would be the snorkel you are looking for. Then in the case of the 8 yrs old I would order the mini snorkel (smaller mouthpiece).

  • Jamie:

I have purchased two Aqua Lung snorkels and a Cessna snorkel in the last two weeks and all three leak from the purge value near the mouthpiece end of the snorkel. At first it does fine then starts taking in water. I loved the mouth piece and flexible tubing because the silicone was softer on the Cessna snorkel. What is the purpose of the purge value? and do you guarantee this brand will alienate this problem. Is the Ocean Quest P)acific mouthpiece flexible or stiff as I have issues with the inside of my mouth. I use a snorkel to swim in the pool.

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

this snorkel comes with 100% guarantee that it won''t leak and does come with a soft silicone mouth piece.
