Bought all Ultra Dry Snorkels for the family, 2 mini and 2 regular. Size was great for all! Nice to have the option to get the mouthpiece changed if needed, but size fit was accurate for all. Youngest has braces, and the mouthpiece still fits good (and comfortable)! Very happy with all Scuba.com items, have purchased lots of items from this website, and VERY satisfied!

I got a couple of these mini snorkels for my kids and they are perfect. I have no more worries about my kids accidentally getting choked. I have the larger size for my wife and myself and they work perfect too. You cant even get water in these things even if you try.

just got back from my first trip snorkeling with this product. overall i would say it works. i wasnt really in an environment where i needed the "dry" feature - and im too much of a chicken to try going under totally under water - so i didnt really get to check it out.
the only problems that i had were 1) im small (95 lbs) with a tiny mouth (my dentist always uses the kid size trays, x-rays, etc) but i didnt feel like there was enough of a mouth piece to grab onto - so i would consider the standard size 2) i had a hard time latching my mask into the fitting on side so there was one time that i was snorkeling and it fell sideways - i can tell you that it wont stay "dry" if it does this (wouldt expect it to!)!

The dry snorkel lives up to its name. It works great! It is easy to clear and has a comfortable mouth piece. Bright yellow color makes it easy to spot in the water when its choppy.

Two weeks snorkeling in Hawaii and this snorkel was great!! As a novice snorkeler (when we arrived) I easily transitioned to a more daring and bold adventurer during our trip, with the knowledge that my snorkel would not allow those pesky ocean waves to swamp my snorkel. From the north shore of Oahu to all of the West beaches of Maui, snorkeling during an ocean kayaking trip (where we swam with the sea turtles!) the crater at Molikini.... my snorkel stayed dry. I had the confidence to venture further than ever before, leaving the crowds behind. My husband is an experienced (ex-Navy) diver and he was a little surprised at how daring I had become with my new best friend. I gained so much confidence being in the ocean, I actually went on a snuba trip at Molikini!! (where the tanks stay on top of the water... ) This snorkel made a huge difference for me and my ability to enjoy being in the water, getting up close and personal with the sea life. It is absolutely worth the extra few dollars for hours of confidence while snorkeling.

Function
Allows you to breathe while on the surface without lifting your head out of the water.
Preparation
Position the snorkel on the outside of the mask strap so it will be just forward of your left ear. Carefully lift the tab located at the bottom of the keeper slightly away from the barrel of the snorkel, and slide the keeper down over the mask strap and release the tab.
Use
To hold the snorkel in your mouth, gently bite on the mouthpiece tabs and keep your lips sealed around the mouthpiece. While snorkeling, keep your chin slightly up so the top of the snorkel stays out of the water. Water that does enter when you dive underwater or encounter a wave can be removed by exhaling a sharp blast of air into the mouthpiece. Use caution when inhaling in case some of the water is not removed. Repeat as necessary.
If water enters more frequently than normal, ensure that the snorkel is positioned properly on the mask strap, make sure that your mouth is sealed around the mouthpiece, and make sure that the end of the snorkel is out of the water while you are swimming. Also check to ensure that there are no holes or cuts in the mouthpiece, and that the round silicone purge valve located in the bottom of the barrel is not distorted or missing and is sealing the opening.
Care & Maintenance
At the end of each day of use, rinse your snorkel thoroughly in fresh water and towel dry. Do not allow the clear silicone portions of the snorkel to come in contact with items that are black rubber. This will cause the clear silicone to become discolored. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or excessive heat. Ensure that the snorkel is completely dry before storing. Store in a cool, dry location.
Oceanic Ultra Dry Snorkel
I used to hate snorkels. I only had one because I was required to as an instructor. Before that, it was rare you’d find me with a snorkel on my mask unless some silly resort or boat made me carry it. And this isn’t a new. I’ve hated snorkels since they were all black rubber without a purge valve. I just really never saw the “need” for me to use one. Why deal with the hassle of blowing the water from a snorkel when I can just lift my head or roll over on my back and breath? Even in choppy water it just didn’t make sense.
That all changed one fun day in Hawaii.
On a non-diving trip to Maui I joined some non-diving friends for an afternoon at Molokini Crater snorkeling. I had grabbed some gear before the trip on the off chance I’d find the time to get into the water and among that was the Oceanic Ultra-Dry snorkel. Still hating snorkels I figured I’d be able to laze around the surface and relax for a few hours, see a few colorful fish that had grown accustomed to human’s daily intrusions. For the first half of the afternoon I was fairly impressed with how comfortable the snorkel fit into my mouth. The styling was extremely ergonomic with the mouthpiece being tipped just right allowing for an effortless fit. But it was still a snorkel and I still had every intention of ditching it or giving it away as soon as I got home.
Then the Manta Ray showed up.
I’d not really paid attention to the fact that the breeze had helped float me out away from everybody else and toward the middle. As I was getting ready to head back to the boat and think up an excuse as to why I was going to nap in the sunny deck for the rest of the afternoon a Manta swam past me. After the initial shock of seeing something I’d dreamed my entire diving career of being in the water with I calmed down a bit and swam parallel to it for a ways. It’d swim under me then back around. It’d swim off in the distance and back. The entire time I’m moving, looking, dunking the snorkel CONSTANTLY in my efforts to soak up as much time as I can watching this graceful creature. One more than one occasion I’d dive down and swim along with it under the water until my lungs were screaming for air. I’d zoom up to the surface, instantly get a breath of air and down I’d go again. After about 45 minutes the Manta left us and we were all called back to the boat.
It wasn’t until we were on the ride back that I’d begun to realize that not a single drop of water ever got into my snorkel. There was no clearing water out of it at all! I just surfaced and breathed. And all the times I’d been on the surface moving and looking, and dipping the end in the ocean, not once did I get surprised by a mouthful of water that I had to spit out. The snorkel really was comfortable, made well, and as dry as it claimed! What a pleasant surprise. I decided right then and there to keep that piece of gear as it isn’t every day you come across something that lives up to its billing such as that.
I still hate snorkels, but when I do go to use one, the Oceanic Ultra-Dry is the ONLY one I’ll choose.
