Rating: APOLLO Bio-Filter Moisture System
Reviewer: Gary Humphreys, Tuesday, September 19, 2006
This has truly been fantastic for me. I tend to make very long shallow dives in excess of two hours. I would always take a bottle of water and attach it to my dive flag so I could quench my thirst before a normally long surface swim. Now with the moisture wick I no longer surface with cottonmouth, dry throat or worry about increased dehydration.
When I first looked over the instructions on line it seemed a little complicated, but it was very easy to hook up and I have not used any tools to put the wick in place before the dive.
I do a lot of beach dives in Venice FL on my hunt for prehistoric shark’s teeth and other fossilized treasures. The reason for my long dives, even on an 80 cu ft –3,000 psi tank, is my max depth in the last 4 dives was 23ft, the bottom water temp has been a low of 86 degrees, little to no current and slowly moving along the bottom. My last four bottom times have been 2hrs 18min, 1hr 35min, 2hrs 14min, 2hrs 11min. With the Bio-Filter Moisture System I look forward to my favorite dive activity more than ever, now I feel moist all over. Thank you.

Rating: Quite happy with product
Reviewer: Robin P., Monday, July 09, 2007
Device works although when drawing a rapid deep breath you can exceed the devices ability to moisturize the air. But generally, assuming you are breathing normally, it works fine. Its nice not having dry mouth.
One issue is it is another potential failure point for a blown seal and so increases the odds of a leak and an aborted or unplanned ascent. So long as the failure isnt massive, you will not need to do a dangerous rapid emergency ascent. Actually as the pressure of the ocean/sea provides a back pressure environment, the leak, if its going to happen will probably be on the surface or near to the surface. On my last dive of my vacation, a leak occurred in my octopus and although I believe it was coming from this device, I have not fully determined it yet. But it happened at the end of the dive when I surfaced, not when I was at depth.

Rating: Bio Filter

this is the greatest invention for diving. i suffered from major dry mouth every time i dove. since i normally dive any where from 3 to 5 dives a day, dry mouth was a big problem.
with the apollo bio-filter, its now a different expereince. i return to the boat without suffering a major need to drink water. with the bio-filter, as your breathe in, you can feel in your mouth s of waters which is exremely satisfying and makes the diving experence pleasureable.
i think everyone should have a bio-filter attached to your regulator.
the only problem i had, my filter did not come with the carbon filter. i called scuba.com and they wanted me to send the entire package back. i was going diving and did not want to be without it. i plan on buying one.
thank you for the bio-filter.

Rating: Apollo filter a plus
Reviewer: Randall Arko, Thursday, April 10, 2008 - View all my reviews
The Apollo moisture system was something that really sounded appealing to me. I was somewhat dissappointed with the instructions and information but once I used the filter a few times I noticed an improvement in getting the moisture to my mouth. It seemed like with normal breathing I still experienced some dryness but I could suck the air and draw moisture thru the filter. I am happy with the filter and will continue to use it on all my dives. Although I still experienced some dryness I could feel the difference at the end of consecutive dives, no headache or tiredness.

Rating: Bio-Filter is a MUST
Reviewer: Ron Honnold, Tuesday, July 29, 2008
When I saw the Bio-Filter advertised in a dive magazine, my first thought was "sounds way too good to be true." Well, I purchased one and will NEVER dive without it again. My husband dives on Nitrox and I was surfacing with more air than him. That was extremely unusual for me. I never got "dry mouth" and was not exhausted. The dives were extremely comfortable and after the second dive I was definitely sold on the product. I cannot thank you enough for making my dives more comfortable and safe.

I purchased the bio filter at the recommendation of another diver who also experienced troubly with breathing the dry air. Since I have installed it I no longer suffer from the cotton mouth syndrome many divers experience. I have only used it a few times now but absolutely notice the difference. I would have given it 5 stars except I felt the packaged instructions could have been a bit clearer.

I really thought that this was a very expensive gadget. It was worth every cent. I always have cotton mouth and dry throat after every dive. I once even tried to bring a bottle of water down with me. Of all the gear I have used over the years, nothing has drawn as much attention as that. What a treat to come back on board and be able to speak. I highly recommend this device.

This item was greatly anticipated and it did not disappoint. Its fit and finish is excellent and it performs as advertized. Breathing filtered, moist air is a pleasure and it eliminated "cotton mouth" and even makes equalizing easier. I cant say enough good about this product! Bravo Apollo!

Rating: Best Filter
Reviewer: Andy Williams, Thursday, April 10, 2008
I have to say I was worried about spending the money for this filer but after using on a live-aboard I was just on I have to say I will never go back to diving without it. My mouth was never dry and the dive was better because of this.

Rating: Not sure I would buy again
Reviewer: Brian McHugh, Tuesday, August 28, 2007
Seems to put alot of moisture in at the start of the dive, however I think it dries out pretty fast especially since I dive a 120 cf tank. Ive never had a poor tasting or smelling fill so I cant comment on its filtering ability.

This is a great product!, my Scuba buddies are all jealous I leave the water with no cotton mouth and it has zero affect on my regulator, it was a great addition to my scuba setup, highly recommended for all divers.
