I was having difficulties with my standard regulator mouthpiece due to various anatomical differences in my mouth. The standard one would cut into my mouth, cause fatigue and pain, and after two dives a day I was done. The custom regulator, however, has changed all that - I love it! Easy to custom fit, feels great in the mouth, and best of all no fatigue in the jaw - I feel I could do 10 dives in a row and still have no pain - get one, youll be glad you did!

purchased the seacure hi-flow mouth piece to put on a new sherwood sr1 and it works great and very comfortable once you get is molded to your mouth. when the direction says not to it in the boiling water, it means it as i ruined the first one i attempted to mold. i used the yellow retention piece that is shipped with it to be used during storage (and the directions also say to use it during the process of dipping the mouth piece in the boiling water). well, i did as the direction stated and when the mouth piece heat up the orfice expanded causing the mouth piece to fall into the water ruining it. fyi - dont follow the directions and use tongs or equivalent for the process.

Rating: Worth the money - your mouth will thank you
Reviewer: Betina D.
loving the new mouthpiece! its more expensive than a standard mouthpiece but well worth it as far as im concerned. its easy to custom fit, the instructions are simple and accurate (i hate it when instructions are in chinese or skip a vital step), and its very comfortable while diving. i had tried and rejected three different sized mouthpieces before i found the seacure i gave them 15-20 dives before i tossed them - yes, they worked but they were never quite right. too big and my face felt stretched or too small and my jaw hurt from clamping down on it. ive already ordered a second one for my snorkel - measure carefully if you do this so you get the right size. seacure i fits 1 1/4" x 3/4", seacure ii fits 1 7/16" x 7/8".

Love these mouth pieces. I have them on both of my regs, and they definitely reduce mouth fatigue. I even had to refit one after some dental surgery and it came out just fine. Easy to fit and nice and secure.

This is one of the best purchases I have made in scuba equipment. Last year I had to cut my diving in Bonaire short after only 5 dives because my jaw ached and popped so badly. I purchased this mouth piece and just returned from Roatan and aft 15 dives there was not even a hint of jaw ache or popping. Great product!

I love Seacures. When I got my new ScubaPro, I was upset that I couldnt get my old Seacure to fit. Well the stiffness of the material necessitates the 3 different sizes. My Sherwood took a II and my ScubaPro needs a I. Oh well, If I switch back and forth, I wont need to change the mouth piece. Just be sure and READ the directions when you custom fit it. Biting too hard is about the only incurable sin.

Rating: This is a wonderful mouth piece...just read the directions!!!

This is a custom mouth piece. Ive never used one that gave me less jaw fatigue. I feels like it was made for you because...it was. I wont go into it any more because what else can I say. The biggest piece of advice is to READ THE DIRECTIONS about customizing the mouth piece several times prior to actually doing it for the first time. I bit down too hard and needless to say I had to buy a 2nd Seacure. Any other mistake and you can reheat it and re-mold it but not that one.

SeaCure Custom Mouthpiece
THE DIVER’S ANSWER TO JAW FATIGUE AND HEADACHES
Introducing the new “X Type” Model with “Bite Limiter” for better molding & more comfort!

Made in the U.S.A.

THE ULTIMATE DIVING MOUTHPIECE – THE RESULT OF 20 YEARS in the moldable mouthpiece business! SeaCure was created by an orthodontist, is guaranteed to fit YOU – PERFECTLY and is the only moldable “and remoldable” mouthpiece offset for both the upper and lower jaw positions.

Now available in NEW SIZES to fit Apeks, Poseidon and rebreathers!

The new and improved X Type SeaCure Custom Mouthpiece offers a totally new X shaped profile, which significantly reduces bulk, virtually eliminates gagging and improves molding by earlier engagement of the teeth during closure. The new X Type also includes an improved one piece molding and sealing attachment. The attachment is used in the molding process and then to keep debris out of the regulator. It now provides a NEW bite limiter which eliminates the possibility of over closure during the heat molding process, thereby preventing reduced air flow during diving.

About SeaCure Mouthpieces
Divers using SeaCure Custom MouthpiecesSeaCure mouthpiece was invented by orthodontist and TMJ (jaw joint) expert, Dr Randall Moles. Back in the early 90s, he had a TMJ patient who asked for his advice. She was a diver and was having major problems clenching the standard regulator mouthpieces while diving without bad jaw pain and headaches. But she loved to dive! What could she do? Dr Moles began to work on a moldable mouthpiece that would “hang on” to the teeth without the constant clenching required by the standard mouthpiece. It worked for her and she was very grateful. And, it has “worked” for thousands of divers since. Many divers do not know what is giving them headaches on dive trips, and once they are using a SeaCure, they no longer have them. Even divers without a jaw problem find a SeaCure mouthpiece to be very, very comfortable. They also find it to stay in with no effort at all, even, we’ve been told, while asleep!

SeaCure has improved on the original design with several models over the 20+ years, the newest being the X Type.

Electromyographic Test Results
Electromyographic tests of divers in the laboratory using both conventional and SeaCure Custom Mouthpieces showed that significantly less muscle effort was required to retain a SeaCure mouthpiece with regulator in the mouth than was needed to retain a conventional mouthpiece/regulator unit. Result: incredible comfort. See the Electromyographic Test Results here.

SeaCure Custom Mouthpiece Design Concept
Conventional scuba mouthpieces currently on the market all employ bite lugs which involve only the front teeth and must therefore use the front of the jaw to retain the mouthpiece/regulator unit during diving. In addition, all conventional mouthpieces use an extremely flexible material in order to adjust to all the various configurations of teeth and jaws required by the “one-size-fits-all” concept which, until now, was the entire mouthpiece market.

SeaCure Mouthpiece, being moldable, cannot only perfectly fit every individual mouth but can actually enter the mouth all the way to the rear of the jaw employing all of the diver’s teeth. The result is that the large rear teeth and tremendous mechanical advantage of the back of the jaw can now be employed to retain the mouthpiece/regulator unit during diving, greatly reducing the required muscle effort. In addition, because the SeaCure mouthpiece has to fit only one mouth, it can be constructed in a much more sturdy design allowing transfer of the regulator/hose load to the rear of the jaw. Because it is not as flexible as conventional mouthpieces, SeaCure greatly reduces gum abrasion.

The significant reduction in muscle effort required to retain the mouthpiece/regulator unit while diving has been confirmed with electromyographic tests. Test data are available which indicate a reduction of muscle effort in the range of 33% to 59% depending upon the individual diver.

Because of its more rigid design, the SeaCure mouthpiece requires slightly more effort to place it on the regulator. Once the regulator ridge is seated into the groove designed inside the SeaCure orifice, accidental separation from the regulator is extremely unlikely.

Complete molding instructions which have proven totally satisfactory for individuals to mold the unit themselves are included with each unit. The general concept is that a scissors is used to trim unnecessary material from the unit to fit the size of the specific mouth/jaw. Then boiling water is used to soften the mouthpiece bite wings only, to allow molding to precisely fit the individual’s teeth, gums, and jaw. The unit is REMOLDABLE so that if not at first satisfied, or dental work changes the bite, it can be remolded and adjusted to accommodate the changes for comfort.
