Rating: Apeks XTX50 Regulator 2013

Seems like a good reg. Easy to breath, did not free flow with the valve setting in either position. Did not really detect any difference when adjusting either of those two knobs.

Questions and Answers for Apeks XTX50 Regulator:
Which 1st stage does this regulator come with the DS4 or DST? Also, is it a DIN or Yoke?
Bill (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
The DS4 comes with the DIN version, same performance for either 1st stage.
Is the performance difference noticeable between the xtx50 and the xtx40? What is the difference? What are these 2 second stages suitable for or how do they differ?
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
Both are designed for recreational diving and will work for any range of typical recreational diving. The main difference as stated in the product description is the xtx40 is not an adjustable 2nd stage where the xtx50 is a balanced adjustable 2nd stage. Equally tuned, it would take a machine to actually tell the difference in breathing performance.
The XTX50 Regulator is for the diver who wants the benefits of a feature-rich regulator at a moderate price.
This popular first stage has four medium-pressure ports all mounted on a rotating turret. This results in optimal hose routing while eliminating sharp bends in the hose
The first stage is over-balanced resulting in a higher medium pressure at each depth. This translates to a very responsive, easy breathing regulator.
Since this pneumatically balanced second stage is part of the XTX family, it has left /right reversibility providing multiple regulator configurations
Features the innovative Diver Changeable Exhaust (DCE) System allowing the diver to change from a large exhaust tee to a smaller exhaust tee. The larger exhaust tee provides the best exhaust bubble dispersion while the smaller tee is lighter weight and compact, both are included with the regulator.
Using the venturi control lever, the diver can prevent unwanted free flow when the regulator is out of the mouth and achieve a venturi boost while diving
