Hello: I currently dive with a ScubaPro MK25/A700 set-up. Unfortunately, this rig weighs over 6 pounds. Although happy with it, I would like something lighter- particularly since I travel often and have a bad back. I looked at both the Aqualung Micron and Apeks Flight, but have some concerns about air capacity and cold water. Meanwhile, this Mares Carbon 52 rig would seem to fit the bill perfectly. Has anyone at SCUBA.com dived with this regulator? Would I be disappointed with the performance if I am used to top of the line ScubaPro? Thanks, George
Hello George, Yes you would be very happy with the Mares rig. But if are looking for the best rig out for travel take a look at either Atomic ST1 Scuba Regulator web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-36/033203/Atomic-ST1-Scuba-Regulator.html. Or the Atomic T2X Titanium Scuba Regulator web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-36/033202/Atomic-T2X-Titanium-Scuba-Regulator.html. These rigs are lighter then any others out. If you have any other questions or would like to place an order please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.
416162 - Mares Carbon 52 Regulator
Extreme performance, light weight
• Second stage case: 100% carbon
• Superior thermal conductivity
• Double DFC
The DFC system ensures superior performance at any depth even when two divers are breathing simultaneously off the first stage. The Natural Convection Channel (NCC) system increases the performance in cold water by enhancing heat exchange. The superior thermal conductivity of carbon reduces the dry mouth feeling at the end of the dive by retaining moisture from the exhaled breath. Carbon 52 is perfect for any type of diving. Ideal placement of hoses combined with an extremely soft and light Superflex hose makes it the lightest second stage on the market.

Carbon Technology: Extreme light weight, exceptional mechanical resistance and high thermal conductivity make carbon the perfect
material for the most demanding divers and every condition.
Dynamic Flow Control: Minimizes intermediate pressure drop during inhalation thus maximizing gas delivery, especially under extreme conditions. The DFC system (Mares patented) minimizes the pressure drop that occurs in all regulator first stages when the diver inhales.
This phenomenon is even more pronounced as depth increases and when airflow demand from the
The DFC system is an exclusive system, unique on the market, that operates in relation to the
diver's actual air demand, independent of depth and tank pressure.
The DFC system uses the Venturi Effect, optimizing the regulator's sensitivity and minimizing inhalation resistance, especially
during dives in extreme conditions.
Fluid Dynamic Deflector: Receives and properly directs the airflow from the bypass tube to the mouthpiece.
Mesh Grid: Patented design which reduces the impact of water flow onto the second stage diaphragm, thus eliminating free flows even in
Natural Convection Channel: Increases cold water performance by creating a flow of water across
the regulator. The flow is driven by the change of density in water with temperature.
