Rating: Oceanic Air XS II Review - Scuba Gear Customer Reviews
Reviewer: Dr Bob Montgomery
We replaced our well-used but traditionally heavy BCDs with Oceanic Biolites, so we can take all of our own gear, except weights and tanks, on our regular diving trips to the Reef and overseas. Like other travel BCDs, the Oceanics have achieved lighter weight and less bulk by sacrificing most of the pockets, which left us with nowhere for safety sausages, small torches, clasp knives. Solved by adding small packing shells from Kathmandu, which attach to a shoulder strap, adding very little weight or bulk. To complete the outfit, added the Oceanic Air XS IIs to allow the usual control of air in and out of the BCD and doubling up as octopus regs. All built to the usual high Oceanic standard, easy and reliable to use. Most of our diving is in our backyard, the Coral Sea off the Gold Coast, and these outfits are fine at home, with the bonus of reducing weight and bulk when we dive further afield. Dr Bob Montgomery

the oceanic air xs ii is like all oceanic products - very durable and easy to use. i have one on my original bc (oceanic outrigger) which i purchased in 2007 and it still works perfectly. i purchased a second one because i also bought an new travel bc - oceanics biolite and love their products. my original bc still looks new although it is 7 yrs. old and has taken me through master diver, rescue diver, dive master, and owsi. now i have the advantage of two set upsone for training and cold water diving and the other for warm/travel.

Rating: One less hose
Reviewer: Karsten S.  -  View all my reviews
Attached this to my aeris biojac and have not been disappointed. Breathes well and I have had no problem with operating the buttons. The pull hose with dump valve works great for releasing air. Will need to get a new dive alert since the connector is different than the inflator on my aqualung bcd.

Rating: Nice product

Works great. It may take a little time to get used to the button locations. BCDs should come this way. One less hose to handle and worry about knocking into the coral. I would recommend any newbie to buy their BCD with one of these.

Ordered this for a BC I had. The cost was good and it came quickly and in good condition. Used it on a couple dives and it works great.

Excellent choice, it´s really amazing how just one less hose can make your dive easier and comfortable. I had to practice switching between regulator and airII, but is ok!

Rating: Great Buy
Reviewer: Dwight C.
Some people dont like the idea of Air II because if need of alternate air source then your Air II is now a inflator/deflator and air source. Regardless I love it, if a place has a problem with it i just put my octo back on the first stage. Great buy, great product and would recommend it to anyone. Only downside it makes your hose kinda long.

Rating: XS II works fine
Reviewer: Patrick M.  -  View all my reviews
Ive only used the safe second just to try it out on my last four dives and it breathes easy and its nice to lose the octopus hose. The BCD inflates easy as well. I just wish the buttons were arranged a little more ergonomically. Its a great product.

Reduces the amount of hoses and gear which is always nice. Love it. Easy to use, very well thought out. All information is easy to see as the displays are large (and I need reading glasses). Highly recommended. Scuba.com deserves 6 stars as my order was placed at 5:00p.m. and arrived at my door at 10:00a.m. the next morning, everything exactly as we ordered and just in time for our trip to Cartagena. The recommendations made by their customer service were excellent.

Questions and Answers for Oceanic Air XS II:

  • craig:

Will This fit the scuba max bcs

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Typically this will only fit Oceanic or Aeris BCDs. The corragated hose inside diameter is 3/4".

  • David:

I have a Oceanic Biolite BC. Can I use the corrugated hose that is currently on the BC or would I need to get a new corrugated hose?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

You just need to change the inflator and use the original corrugated hose.

  • Juan:

If I get the 20 in hose does it come with the corrugated hose and cable as well.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Juan, if you order the Complete with 20" yes you would get everything you need to attach this to your BCD.

  • sanborn:

where can I get a 3/4" X 16" replacement hose for my oceanic bcd most web sites do not specify the inside diameter of the hose

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Typically the Corrugated Hose is considered a replacement part available only through a repair center for in-house repairs due to liability reasons.

  • a.johnson:

can I buy just the corrugated hose for Oceanic Air XS 2

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Unfortunately no. It is considered a repair part and we only offer it via in-house repairs through your repair department due to liability reasons.

One is better than two. Combine your alternate air source and BC inflator into one low profile, streamlined package.
