Questions and Answers for ScubaPro Spectra Mask with Mirrored Lens:

  • patrick:

what is the advantage of mirrored lens? Is there a disadvantage?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Patrick, the mirror lens just cut down on the glare. If you are looking for a mask that brings out more color and a better view while looking threw the mask. Then the mask I would suggest is the Atomic Ultra Clear Subframe ARC Technology Scuba Dive Mask web link: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-32/029068/Atomic-Ultra-Clear-Subframe-ARC-Technology-Scuba-Dive-Mask.html. This mask is like wearing polarize glasses underwater.

  • Ryan:

I recently purchased this mask and i am having a lot of trouble with fogging, more so than some of the cheaper masks i have had before. I was wondering if there is any kind of anti fog that can be used or what is the best way to prevent this. i know that all masks fog but with this one i am constantly clearing.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Ryan, did you scrub the inside of the mask with toothpaste yet. When lens are first made there is a fine coating that is left on the mask. If you use the white toothpaste not the gel rubbing it around the inside of the mask for 3-5 min. That will take the coating off and you can use defog.

  • Dave:

Hi, Im looking to purchase a new mask, and these certainly look nice with a wide range of vision. Im curious about the "mirrored" lenses. Do they completely shield your eyes? I like the idea of mirrored lenses while skiing, but am I right to be concerned about my buddy not being able to see my eyes while diving? Or do these not shield your eyes that much that it is of a concern. Thanks!

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

They do not shield the eyes from view externally.
