Rating: OMS K2 Head Lamp

Great light. Very flexible. Can be used as head lamp or hand held. Field of view and lumens allow for use as an inexpensive alternate primary. Only drawback is when using as a headlamp, can be easily displaced.

Rating: Supernova

This is a great dive light. I like the ability to convert from a headlamp to hand-mounted. Bright enough to be used as a primary dive light, would also make an excellent back-up. Light weight. I also use this light for night-time bike riding. Throws a better brighter beam than similarly-priced lights designed for biking. Sale price was perfect. Only improvement I could suggest would be to incorporate less expensive batteries into the design of the unit.

Rating: oms ultra bright led lamp
Reviewer: ward gray, Sunday, October 11, 2009
This lamp is a bit flaky. Sometimes it goes dim than recovers. Ive checked the batteries and they are good. It was bright again after installing. Suspect this will be an ongoing problem. Also head lamp falls off allot due to to small area on foreheaddue to mask. I do allot of twisting and turning which exagerates this. If I were diving in deep water I would put some kind of lanyard on it.

Rating: Good but not great
Reviewer: james t., Monday, September 28, 2009
For its size and price, the little light is a good value, bright enough to illuminate wrecks moderately well at 100 feet in murky Lake Champlain.
The batteries, however, are not good value and detract from the products overall value. Mine lasted about 2 hours total and now have to be replaced at $9 per battery.
Also, the rubber headband detached from the light head the second time I used it and down went my light to the bottom. It laid there like a beacon at 100 so I retrieved it, but the slotted attachment bracket on the light head is a lost light waiting to happen.

Rating: The Best Birthday Gift
Reviewer: Timothy Jordan, Saturday, September 19, 2009 - View all my reviews
i received this oms k2 l.e.d. head lamp for my birthday.
my son tim had gotten one a while ago, and i always enjoyed diving with him because i could see so much more with his lamp. we dive the northwest and at times its very dark.
i know there is alot of life in the water, but i could barely see it. i have always made a comment on his lamp on how bright it was. well, now i have one of my own!! it has been the best gift i have ever gotten.

Rating: Not a backup, but an extra light.
Reviewer: Scott Michael, Saturday, September 05, 2009 - View all my reviews
I bought this light for a black water dive on the Cooper River in SC looking for fossils. I was amazed how much this light helped examine the river bottom. When I laid my primary light down on the river bottom to adjust some equipment, I could still easily see what I was doing. I dont think of this as a backup light, but rather as an extra light
Another even more useful point about this light is how easy it makes checking checking my computer. On my previous dives in the Cooper river (viz 2-4 feet max) I had to use the edge of my primary lights beam to check it. With the K2, I just had to glance at my wrist as I normally would. Since every ascent was an ascent without visual reference, I could let my big light remain hooked to my BCD and have my left hand on the inflator and my right hand free.
If you buy generic batteries in bulk you can get them for about $1.70 apiece. A set of batteries will last a least 2 hours and probably 2.5 hours.
Two caveats -
1) Dont try to use rechargeable CR123A lithium batteries. They only last 30 min in a flashlight
2) If you are wearing the light on your head, be sure and hold onto the light when you enter the water. If you dont it may come off when you giant stride in. I make sure the strap is nice and tight and pull it over on top of my mask strap.

Rating: The Torch That Could
Reviewer: Salem K., Wednesday, September 09, 2009
This powerful headlamp torch is everything I was looking for in a light supply.
Its small, head or wrist mountable and has lots of power. I can see it working as a main or backup on any dive. Finally a compact light with plenty of power with a great price.
scuba.com did a great job with its fast shipping and choice of brilliant products on this item.
Thank you guys, Ill check your website first every time I need something.

Rating: K2 L.E.D. Head Lamp is a good buy!
Reviewer: Andrew T., Saturday, August 29, 2009
I have only used it on a couple of dives, both as a head lamp, and on my hand. Comfortable to wear and easy to turn on and off either way.
Very bright light! Used it the other night to chase off raccoons in my garden....was able to clearly see at least 150 meters away.
I almost want to buy a couple more as future replacements...hmm?

Rating: Makes a great hardhat light.
Reviewer: Randy B., Friday, August 21, 2009
Not only is this light good for diving! This is the light for the construction worker that uses a headlamp on their hardhat. The light is bright for hard to see places once a building is closed in, and only has temporary lighting. There is no more trying to figure out how to secure the headlamp to the hardhat, the rubber strap clings to hardhats perfectly. A must have!!!

Rating: Works Great
Reviewer: Jeffery C., Saturday, August 01, 2009
I just used it wrist mounted as a primary, doing some unplanned mild wreck penetration on a grey and nasty day. The light is conveniently sized for travel but packs enough punch to work as a primary. It has a tight focus and a shadowless hot spot that allowed it to punch through some silt. Id prefer less of a hot spot and a wider angle of coverage in a night diving primary, but it would work in that role and makes a great backup light or travel primary. Be aware that it may slip off the hand carried Goodman-style. But it works almost as well pushed up to the wrist for general use, from where it can be moved onto the hand proper.
