Rating: Mini U-Beam 5 L.E.D. Light - PASS
Reviewer: Bill Barnes, Saturday, November 08, 2008
I bought five of these lights with the "$7.00 off Mini U Beam offer" from scuba.com thinking I had a bargain. That made the price $5.99. I feel I was kind of ripped off. I tried unsuccessfully to give away two of them, but no one wound take them. They do work. Instead of tightening the bezel to make the come on, you keep the bezel tightened down and loosen the bezel to make the light come on. Yes the light came on. It did put out light. It did not seem too bad. It just had a really cheap feeling to it. The light is only rated for 100 feet though. They would be fine as a safety light in your car or truck. They would work as a back up light, but it would not be your first choice. I would pass.

This is a great little 4 1/2 inch LED flashlight that runs ons four alkaline triple AAA batteries. It will fit in even the smallest of hands and can be used both above and below the water up to 30 meters. It makes a great backup light for night diving and is easy to carry on day trips for peeking into those dark recesses in coral,

Rating: modest light
Reviewer: James M., Wednesday, October 01, 2008
Not a bad light and certainly ok for the price but I tried it on a recent dive and at 100 feet during a daytime dive in San Diego it didnt provide much light. Ive had numerous small lights that provide more illumination. Certainly ok as a backup nite light and small enough for anywhere non diving use. I have one in my car.

Great light. Very bright for area illumination (i.e., its a flood light, versus a spot light). The twist to turn on switch means it take two hands to turn on or off. A one-hand button would make it even better, but it is well worth the scuba.com price.

Rating: well built
Reviewer: ELMER OCAMPO, Friday, November 21, 2008 - View all my reviews
This light is a well built flashlight. It is very durable and bright. But the twist on switch is a bit tight even after I applied some silicone grease. If you are lokking for a reliable back up light you better get the UK mini Q40 eled.

Rating: Nice little light, excellent value
Reviewer: Richard Sinclair II, Sunday, November 16, 2008
I havent used this diving yet, but it a nice sized little light, and will not be cumbersome when attached to a BCD. The five LEDs provide a good level of brightness. The Scuba.com sale price made this a value to good to pass up!

Rating: A lot of light for such a small flashlight
Reviewer: Rebecca Wills, Monday, September 22, 2008
We used our light for snorkeling in a Cenote in Mexico and it worked just wonderfully. They are small enough to put in the pocket of our snorkel vest and will travel with us on all of our trips.

Small and compact, fits in a BC pocket. Bright enough for a primary, and small enough for a backup. And its durable and cheap, losing one wont ruin your day.

Rating: beam width of Minu U-Beam LED light
Reviewer: Edward L., Sunday, November 09, 2008
The light beam of these lights was not as sharply focused (collimated?) as I had hoped for my use (setting subject distance for a NIKONOS close up lens).

The light from this flashlight is great for daytime use in wreck diving, really cuts through the gloom and the beam holds together well.

Twist on/off. Good value for the mandatory waterproof flashlight that must be carried in all boats in Canada.
