Rating: Good chem-stick replacement
Reviewer: Michael B., Thursday, January 18, 2007
the light stick is smaller than a chem-stick, and is more than bright enough to allow others to see it on a night dive. i have only gotten to use it on one dive so far no problems, but i cant vouch for the battery life. as long as it lasts as long as the specs state, it will make up for the higher initial cost over the chem-sticks. i had a glo-tube as well, i like it but apparently misplaced it when i moved last summer. i liked the glo-tube i had better just because it did have the ability to program it to do strobing, but i dont know that that was really worth the extra $$$. the glo-tube also seemed like it was less flimsy, although i dont think the light stick is going to break. both the light stick and the glo-tube have one common flaw - its easy to forget to turn them off (i caught the light stick at the last second. i had to replace the batteries on a glo-tube after it was left on for about 48 hours straight, but it was still glowing).

Rating: Ok night dive beacon
Reviewer: daniel mchaney, Sunday, November 26, 2006 - View all my reviews
This light works ok. I bought the red flashing type hoping it would help distinguish me from the crowd for my buddy. But it ended up just being just OK. First off red was the wrong choice, red is the first collor absorbed by water so the beacon light wouldnt be as brilliant from a distance as say blue. My buddy mentioned that the blinking was a set back because if he was scanning for me, my beacon was easily missed. So Id say if you have to buy this one go for green or White solid. It does sink so I had to mount it centered with my white tank for it to have maximum effect. I would not buy again, I would go with the Trident Gloo Toob. My brother was using the Gloo Toob in blue and it was really brilliant. At the surface while facing him it illuminated his black hoses with a noticable blue glow and down below you could see him as far as his primary could be seen. I give the gloo toob 5 stars.
Hope this helps
Dan

We like these light sticks. They work well, and are bright enough for night diving. They are not wasteful like the chemical sticks, and unlike the chemical sticks they are not banned on Bonaire and other destinations. I would have given it five stars, except for the fact that when my wife twisted hers in the wrong direction trying to turn it off, it opened and the small batteries jumped out of it like they were trying to escape. It is a minor complaint, though, and we plan on continuing to dive with these light sticks.

I have several light sticks, and when I saw this one on Scuba.com., I only bought one. After receiving it, I had to buy more. I have used it several times and they are better than any light stick on the market. So for Christmas, I had to share one with a friend. To be really honest, I have a couple of light sticks which cost more, and they look cheaply made. Even the price is right on this LED Light Stick. However, I do like the solid light better than the flashing one, but I feel it is just a preferance thing.

Rating: GOOD PRODUCT OVERALL
Reviewer: JAMES SHERMAN, Friday, August 01, 2008
I purchased this dive marker in white, blue and orange. All are very visable, but white is the most visable followed by orange then blue...I didnt go with red figuring that red light is absorbed the fastest under water. To attach it to our regulators, I used zip ties with the little screw holes/eyelets. That way I can leave the zip tie on all the time and just clip the dive marker on when I need it. I have used it on 5 night dives so far and am pleased.

Rating: Light Stick - well constructed
Reviewer: Perry F., Wednesday, September 05, 2007
Used it on a pair of nights dives and it worked very well. Bought the strobe (white light) model for my daughter & I. Gets your attention very easily under water. Did an "exercise" where all the divers turned off their primary lights and the strobes became that much more noticable.
I am still working on a better mounting location/method as the light sinks. The light sometimes finds its way behind the hoses so it becomes less visible to other divers.

Rating: Good Buddy Marker
Reviewer: Steven R., Friday, May 16, 2008 - View all my reviews
This light provides a nice balance between visibility and brightness. The light is bright enough to see, but not overpowering and obnoxious, which is good for a personal marker light (unless youre trying to keep track of a retard that doesnt understand the buddy concept). I use this light for night, wreck and cave/cavern dives. I would not use this light for high visibility requirements like a rescue light or marking entry points.

The light stick got baptized into action on a night on the Stetson Bank, Flower Gardens in the Gulf of Mexico. This formation is made of clay sprinkled with coral and visibility can get slightly murky. I bought the Light Stick for my wife and I could spot her easily as the brightness of the light make a sharp outline. You can tell by just holding the thing that it is well made.

Rating: Night Dive Buddy Marker
Reviewer: James J., Wednesday, January 09, 2008
we use these light sticks mainly to identify each other. of the 6 - 8 products ive tried, this one is the hardiest. most break after a few dives. the non-blinking model lasts for 4 - 6 dives on one set of batteries (if you remember to turn it off right away) choose the blinking type it lasts several times longer, albeit the blinking can be a bit annoying.

Get one of these rather than use disposable glo sticks (which FYI have been BANNED in Bonaire - you are forced to use a usable light stick instead). Very easy to use and comes in different colors so you can stand out in a crowd. Inexpensive, so for even better visibility, use 2 or 3 sticks to really stand out.

Used it when I did night dives in florida. Good to have. Recommend getting a different color. Most outfits you dive with will give you a green one. We used these and the L.E.D., It was still nice, I knew my buddy had 2 lights on him. Could always tell him from the others at a glance.

Weve gone thru litterally a dozen types of night dive markers and this is the first that has lasted thru two trips (about 12 night dives, but left on the tanks for about 20 days of diving). Used constant-on style for this trip and batteries lasted for all dives.

Nice tank light.
Pros: Small, though not too bright. The orange color sets it apart from the rest of the red, green, blue and whites out there.
Cons: Only one so far, it doesnt float so it wont float above your reg. for better visibility.

Rating: Great light?
Reviewer: Justin Warren, Saturday, March 03, 2007
I bought the green solid, and it works great. The construction of the light is very strong, and would be hard to break. My only two complaints that I would have is that the light doesnt float, and it doesnt take a common batt. like AAA/AA.

Rating: Great Color but doesnt float
Reviewer: Carol McKnight, Tuesday, October 03, 2006
The LED stick is easy to use and clear color on night dives. The only thing we didnt like was that it did not float above your tank but fell beside it when we secured it to the 1st stage thereby making it difficult to see at times.

I do night dives and it helps to not only mark my tank with a strobe but when there are multiple divers to assign a color to each one so we can track our budies in the dark.

You can really see divers well at night who have this on their tanks. The only downside is the strap that came with it broke the first time I used it.

This is an easy item to replace the glow stick with. Doing a night dive without having to purchase glow sticks makes this an easy alternative.
