Rating: X-Cut Titanium TEK Knife - review

A good piece of diving kit in that it is small and simple and, being one piece, is easy to clean and maintain. The downside is that there is no obvious place to attach it to the BCD (although there are a variety of options for doing so - none seem perfect). While i know this is lame, I never wanted to carry a big knife on my leg or arm because it just seemed too "Mike Nelson," from Seahunt. This is the kind of knife you want to have on hand, unobtrusive but with a lot of utility, if you ever get tangle in fishing line or anything like that, and do not want to look like you are expecting to fight a shark or be an an extra in the 007 folm, Thunderball.

Questions and Answers for ScubaPro X-Cut Titanium TEK Knife:

  • Jerry:

Simplicy is usually best, so the ScubaPro X-cut is appealing - no plastic hilt, no joints, no nooks to clean out. Two questions: a, Is the sheath material sufficient to keep it safe. Does it/can it cut through? b, what are the best option for putting it on a BCD? Where do the designers believe it ought go. I will look to buy when I understand these two questions better. Anyone know, or have first hand experience? Thanx.

The sheath is designed to hold the this knife so should not be a problem. Attachment is typically up to the diver. Many attach the knife to the corrugated hose or to a place on the BCD with tie wraps or wire ties and is easy to reach with both hands.

  • April:

Is this a single edge knife and what is the blade length?

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

It is serrated on one side and a blade on the other. the blade length is 3"

Quality knives are imperative tools for the diver and must fulfill two main priorities; a quality blade with a superior cutting edge, yet sturdy for prying and hammering and corrosion resistance. SCUBAPRO has chosen materials that provide both blade and durability excellence.

This multi-function knife is made from alpha (hardened) titanium and its 6.3cm specially designed SCUBAPRO shaped blade maintains a highly-durable cutting edge for lightweight, long life, corrosion free performance. The low profile, Velcro closure, soft protective sheath is designed specifically to fit on a tech harness waistband
