This is an excellent and well thought out BC for travel. However the two smaller sizes XXS/XS and SM/MD are not suitable for colder water or use with a wetsuit. One star for the its design and quality. It appears well made with nice features like a pocket for storage, grommets for mounting a knife sheaf and a quality braided flex hose for the infiltrator along with an attached dust cap. Second star for its fitment. Ins a unisex BC. Black or pink models are identical. They are not cut differently for men or women. However they fit both VERY well with the adjustments. My wife tried on a dozen BCs and found the Zuma to most comfortable and best fit. Especially the tank location does not pull on your shoulder and does not sit too high or low. The final star for its ability to travel light and compact. Completely dry and totally deflated this BC rolls up exceptionally small and can fit into a walmart plastic shopping back with room to spare! Now the major flaw. The two smaller sizes are only rated at 22lbs of lift and NOT 34lbs as advertised. This worked great for my wife in the pool. And will work great in any other warm water or tropical conditions. However it was a complete disaster recently on a checkout dive at the lake where the water was 45F. My wife was in a 7mm suit with a 5mm core and cover as was I. We both had our BCs maxed out at 20lbs of weights with an additional weight belt. This exceeded the abilities of the smaller sized Zuma. The larger sized Zuma with 34lbs of lift worked well. If the smaller Zuma provided the same 34lbs of lift this could be a 5 star product.

Bought the Zuma BCD online using the supplied sizing chart. There didnt seem to be enough options to fit everyone. Turns out it fit okay when it arrived, but more options would be good.

Questions and Answers for Aqua Lung SeaQuest Zuma Travel BC:

  • Carlos:

Wats the difference between a 400 bc and a 700 bc

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

I'm afraid we don't totally understand the question. If you are asking about pricing differences in BCD's there can be any number of factors. Popularity. How new the model is. How much material is used in the construction or how intricate the construction is. The weight of the materials involved. And sometimes simply the name of the manufacturer can factor in.

  • Tim:

What is the weight of this BC and can one install the air2 from AquaLung on this BCD. What makes this a travel BCD - Does it fold up? What is the advantage of this in comparison to the Balance (which I have and love). Thanks

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Tim, the weight of this is just under 7lbs. Yes it will also fold up compact for ease of travel.

  • Timothy:

is this rapture compatible or non-compatible? Need to know as I would like to purchase the optional Griplock tank band from Aqualung. Thanks

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Timothy, yes the grip lock will work for this BCD. This would be an add-on item and you would need to install yourself.

  • Greg:

Can this bcd be modified to accept an Atomic Safe Second?

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

yes but you would need the angle adaptor.

  • Brian:

Does this version include the non-releasable weight pockets in addition to the SureLock II pockets? Other listings Ive seen indicate that those pockets are sold separately.

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Brian, yes this BCD does come with the SureLock II weight system which are the intergrated weight pockets, but the non-ditchable pockets are an optional add-on.

  • Jim:

I have a zuma bcd from aqualung. My problem is the weight holders they are both starting to come apart on the rubber part of the pulls. Can these be replaced without having to buy a new bc

    Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello, yes you can buy replacement weight pockets for this bc.

  • greg:

i noticed that there has been a recall of the surelock weight release system. do you have the d handles?

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

We do not. You''d need to contact the manufacturer directly for the recall and replacement information.

  • Sun:

can this BCD use any air integrated secondary air sources ,e.g. Atomic SS1 or Aqua lung air source 3.and can you suggest any other better back inflation BCDs can use this!

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Sun, yes this would be able to use the Atomic SS1 or the Aqua Lung airsource.
