Questions and Answers for TUSA X-Wing BCJ-8000 Diving BC:

  • song:

How are you! My height: 169 meters, weight: 90 kg. What number should buy? Thank you very much!

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    Large

  • Andrew:

I am 172 cm (5 ft 7 inch), weigh 66 kg (145 lbs) and waist is 32 inch. According to the TUSA website, I will fit into a small for height 5 ft 7 inch and weight between 120-155 lbs. The Tusa size chart is somewhat different from the scuba.com. I am between size S and M. What size should I take?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Waist is the most important measurement, snug is better than loose on the BCD.

  • Jason:

hello fellow diver, was wondering what is it about the atomicaquatics safe seconds (ss1) that it wont integrate with tusas air purge assist (apa) system? in particular, i was considering tusas x-wing as my next bcj and had already purchased the titanium ss1. i like both lines of equipment and appreciate each of them independently for their quality and integrity. if a solution were possible i sure would like to hear about it *€) otherwise, if no integration is possible with tusas x-wing which tusa bcj would you recommend to integrate the two systems? many thanks in advance. go deep, jason

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

It has to do with the function of the APA system and the connection. Tusa's APA system is a pneumatic dump that is assisted by the power inflator. It is button actuated and is connected via a cable to the dump valve. Only a TUSA APA power inflator will function with this set up.

  • Alexander:

Will its tank straps accommodate cylinders with 5.46inch diameter and 17.8inch height or.. Itll have to be used with shorter straps like.. for example, the XS Scuba Standard Cum Bands Short? Thanks

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

It is designed for standard scuba cylinders 6.25" to 8"

  • Raymond:

Hi all. I have 4 questions and I hope one of you can help. 1. Is this product in stock? If yes how long is the shipping time to Chicago area. 2. I am 5 feet 9 (177 cm) / 143 lbs (65 kg) and planning to buy size M. Is this be a good size for me? 3. Is this a good travel BC? 4. What are your experiences with this BC? Are there any other products that you can recommend and why? Thank you!

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Raymond, we are currently out-of-stock in the size medium. Which going by your measurements that is the size you would need. We show this would be in-stock on 11/24/2014. Yes this is a very friendly travel BCD does not take up a lot of room in your checked bag. This is the BCD that I dive and travel with. I have had this BCD for over a year and put close to 100 dives on this and have had no issues with this unit.

  • Chris:

Hi I am quite skinny. 5 ft 10 in, 142 lbs (64 kg), waist size 30". I usually dive with 5 mm suit. Which size will you recommend? Thank you in advance.

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello, you would want to go with a medium.

  • Mamoru:

I think Ill buy this BCD for me and my wife. Please teach me that BCD size. Me : Height 5ft 11 inch, weight: 155 lbs My wife : Height 5ft 2 inch, weight: 130 lbs (Maybe S size) And one more question. What is the weights of the BCD itself.

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello, you would be a Medium and you are right for your wife a small. a small is 8.75Lbs and a Medium is 9Lbs

  • Mamoru:

Hi. Is "Mares Alt Air Control Integrated Octo" available to this BCD? If is not possible, Should I buy "TUSA Duo-Air"?

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello, stick with the Tusa Duo-Air.

TECHNOLOGY

A.W.L.S. II
The 2nd generation A.W.L.S. continues to enhance TUSA weight integrated BC jackets by incorporating a newly designed ergonomic handle grip and quick-lock feature. Release the weight cartridges with ease by simply turning the handle grip vertically 90° in either direction.

Independent Harness System (I.H.S.)
The Independent Harness System isolates the BC jacket's harness from the air cell, tightly supporting the tank even with changes in air cell inflation/deflation. The I.H.S. prevents tank slippage and eliminates any gaps between the tank and your back.

Ultimate Stabilizing Harness (U.S.H.)
TUSA's Ultimate Stabilizing Harness completely eliminates tank roll and delivers an amazing fit. The U.S.H. securely holds the air cylinder in place with optimally placed rails and brings the tank closer to the body increasing tank control while reducing weight.

Service and Repair (BCJ)
Q: Can I get replacement AWLS pockets for my BCJ?
Yes, replacement Velcro and mechanical AWLS integrated weight pockets are available, please contact your TUSA authorized retailer.

Q: My BCJ bladder is leaking air or has been punctured, can it be patched?
Your BCJ will have to be evaluated to determine if the size and location of the puncture can be repaired. Please contact your local authorized TUSA retailer.

Q: What is the proper care and maintenance of my BC?
Rinse the outside and inside of the BCJ with warm fresh water thoroughly to stop the formation of salt crystals on vital components. This should be done as soon as possible post-dive and prior to allowing your BCJ to dry. Once rinsed, line dry completely and store partially inflated in a cool dry place away from heat, electric motors and other sources of ozone. To maintain the BCJ, annual service/inspection by an Authorized TUSA retailer is required. This is also a prerequisite to retain the warranty.
