It was nice not to have a weight belt. Very comfortable with no chaffing under the arms. Being a back inflator, it will push your face down in the water, when on the surface.

Questions and Answers for Oceanic Excursion BC:

  • Anthony:

could you explain how the spinner knife is mounted to the bc thanks Tony

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Anthony, if you enlarge the picture you will see two holes above the Oceanic logo. That is where you will attach the BC knife to the BCD. There is also a set of holes on the other side of the BCD in the same location.

  • Christopher:

Is this the same as the Excursion 2? From the photo it looks the same as what I have seen referred to as the excursion 2 by other sites/reviews. If not what is the difference?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The Excursion 2 was the name they used when the new model was being sold at the same time Oceanic was clearing out the original model. It is the most current version of the Excursion bcd.

  • Linda:

we have older bcsa probe and isla. we have atomic seconds installed. we they fit this bc without modification? the dealer put these original bcs together which is why i am asking.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Linda, the Atomic SS1 will fit your new BCD''s the corrugated hose are the same. You would just need to have your local dive shop install them for you onto your new BCD''s.

  • Marc:

Can I use my scubapro air 2 with this BCD.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

No. Oceanic uses a different size corrugated hose that is not designed to adapt to the Air 2.

  • Linda:

Follow up question, the SS1s just screw on our current BCs, would the new one need to be modified to accept the SS1s since you mentioned needing a dive shop. If so would you be able to do the modification.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Linda, yes the piece that is attached to the BCD and then you screw on the SS1. That part would need to be taken off and installed into the new BCD.

You glide through the water like a manta ray, air bladder tucked neatly behind you. Up front, there's nothing but contoured harness straps and a couple of integrated weight pockets. You're uncluttered, unencumbered and looking good. Built tough for use in both recreational and technical diving, the Excursion is extremely comfortable and stabile, the ultimate BC for the serious adventurer.
