Hello Lars, yes you would be able to use this for either scuba diving or snorkeling. They designed this with more of the outdoor actives that you are more active in then scuba diving where you are only kicking and not using your upper body also. i noticed a difference between the henderon size charts on scuba.com and a competitors web site.
some of my numbers fall in md and some in the lg even extra large on scuba.com
my numbers are
weight 180
height 5 9"
waist 32"
chest 42"
i want this for jetskiing only.
i already have a sleeveless vest.

Hello Javits, the sizing chart for this item is different from there normal sizing chart. This is a unisex sizing. Going by your sizing I would suggest a size large. This is made of a super-stretch material so a few inches here or them is not a big deal.
