Reviewer: Ken H.,
i bought this beanie for a january trip to cozumel where a little extra warmth can be nice just in case the sun isnt blazing between dives. as it turned out i wore it for all dives (in addition to my 3 mm suit) because... i just like to be warm. a few times on the trip back to the dock i fastened the side flaps up and continued to wear it like...a beanie. being from northern michigan (land of the dry suit) i really appreciate efficient ways to keep warm and comfortable in and out of the water and if you try to tough your way through getting cold you will lose. and we all know how much heat is lost from the head, right? so buy this beanie and stick in in your bag. btw, its comfy and well made.

Rating: 2 mill beanies are cool!
Reviewer: Martin O., - View all my reviews
If you are looking for an easy don, easy doff, super stretchy, comfortable, lightweight hood with a cozy chin strap, look no further. At 2 mills you barely know youre wearing it and my daughter & I found them warm & suitable even under 60 degree water for an hour dive. Sweet hat, I even use it for dinghy sailing in the winter because the chin strap keeps it on my head when I have to duck the boom on tacks when a sock cap always gets bumped or rubbed off. Stylish too if you like the Telly Savalas look...

Rating: More comfortable than a hood
Reviewer: Kelly B.,
This runs large and since I got a small which was still too large I had to make adjustments. I added more velcro to the side to tighten up the strap and elastic to the bottom in the back to make it more snug to the head. My son, who is 12, used it on our Catalina dive in June. I didnt think it would be warm enough, but he really didnt like wearing the hood and wore this cap instead. He didnt complain of getting cold. It is certainly a great idea for those who feel like they are being strangled by a hood under a 7mm wetsuit.

Rating: Dive Beanie a Must
Reviewer: Charles K.,
My wife continually complained about her hair getting under her mask and or hanging over it as she was diving.
It wasnt until we dove in 7mm wet suits and hoods to dive in water temperatures of 45 degree F, that she realized the hood helped contol her issues with her hair.
I saw beanie in one of your emails in January, bought one and had her try it on our most recent trip to Mexico. It worked very well, instead of the complaints about the hair in her face and mask, I heard more about the awesome diving we did. Im going to buy her another one because the size small I bought her was slightly big.

I needed to keep my head warm while simming and this gear gets the job doen. I swim in Lake Michigan and it keeps me warm.
The manufacturer needs to make the chin strap a little shorter.
Most heads are not the size of Jabba the Hut!

Rating: Dive Beanie a must buy item !!!!!!
Reviewer: Garry Odom, - View all my reviews
You have to have this with your dive equipment...I got 1 second hand and wore it out. I now have 10 so I will never be with-out.. As I dive in colder water I use 2 . Works so great... The extra works the best...I have a fairly large head. The beanie stretches so do not buy a larger that needed size.

This beanie is reasonably priced and I was surprised how warm my head was diving near Cozumel. It really streches and is very comfortable.

Hello Mary, yes it has a velcro chin strap for adjustments. As for the size going by your sizing I would put you into a size XLarge. If you have any other questions or would like to place an order please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.
ALBERTO:
Is there any product, appart from ear plugs, to keep my ears dry while I swimm?
Greg (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Ear plugs are great for keeping your ears dry while swimming, but do not use them for SCUBA diving.
ALBERTO:
I need to keep my ears dry all the way I swim. Does any of the hoods advertized does this?
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
No. Hoods for scuba and snorkeling are designed with thermal properties in mind to keep the user warm and not to keep them dry. They work by allowing a layer of water inside. The head/body heats the water and the material insulates it to retain the heat.

I am looking for protection from water entering my ears while swimming in an indoor pool. Earplugs do not work well and fall out easily. Will the Ocean Quest 2mm Premium Super-Stretch Titanium Dive Beanie hood work well for swimming pool lengths, say 20 at a time, without one feeling too constricted?
I am 5 ft 6 ins and 130 lbs and wear prescription goggles(designed for squash)or can omit the goggles for exercising in the pool. You can call me at 604-516-9098 Canada or give me a telephone number i can call from Canada. Thanks.Ali.

Unfortunately this type of product is a wet suit cap, which means it keeps the user warm by letting a thin layer of water inside. The body (in this case the head) heats the water and the neorprene material insulates it. You will get wet and water will enter your ears.
Sara:
I am interested in ordering the Oceanquest Beanie and dont know whatsize to get. I am female and have lots of hair to manage. I would guess that my head size is average but I noticed when reading the reviews people commented that these beanies run large. Any advice?
Bob (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
I wear a medium sized beanie from most all manufacturers, including the Ocean Quest. I don't find it to be sized terribly different than any other manufacturer. Unfortunately hoods and beaniers are one of the few items we rely on the consumer to have an idea what size they may be as the sizing charts are more of a guideline based on body size and not all that accurate as one's head rarely has anything to do with one's body size.
