This is a nice hooded vest that can help a diver make small adjustments to the amount of neoprene he or she is wearing. hood down = low/medium additional heat hood up = medium/medium+ additional heat The thickness of the hood is great, it protects from heat loss very effectively and makes it much easier to dive longer.

A very good hooded vest with side zipper so its easy to get on. I wear the 5/3 under the Akona 7mm wet suit. It helps keep you warmer and its easy to get on and off especially after a couple of wears. Very good product

I use this year round. The trick I have learned... In warmer months, I wear the vest inside the wetsuit. In cooler months, I wear it on the outside. This lets me pull back the hoodie to allow water down my back if I overheat in warmer months, but not get water down my back in cooler months. The zipper on the side really helps out. There is a bleed hole on the top to allow air to escape without creating a bubble. Fits very well. When you need to take it off, just ask a buddy to grab the bottom of the back and pull it right over your head as you bend over. Easy to remove due to the zipper feature. It would be nice if it had a key holder in it though...

The vest was the best thing I have purchased in a long time. I used it with my Henderson 7 ml two piece wet suit and it keep me very comfortable while underwater for 1 hour intervals when I went cage diving with Great White Sharks.

After ordereing the vest and using the size chart I could not get the hood to fit over my head and chest. I am truly a med to small person that ordered a medium size vest. I drove down to the store and fitted myself into a LARGE. The vest works in providing the additional warmth needed for multiple dives.

The Sherwood Akona is a great hooded vest, the first one I have owned with a zippered side- makes it much easier to get in and out of the vest. And the trim-to-fit face seal is the best sealing hood Ive used. Add to this the flexible rubber in the neck for maneuverability, and youve got absolute comfort. As a commercial diver I spend hours underwater daily, and being comfortable is a must for long dives in extreme conditions- good equipment sets me free to focus on the job. Ill be back for another if I wear this one out!

Ideal for stretching the use of a 3mm suit into autumn. Ive been diving Tahoe in this vest/hood and my 3mm, and it adds just enough warmth for that "in-between" time when a 3 is too light and a 7 is too heavy. This hood/vest combo wears well under a one-piece 3mm or 7mm suit, and adds a great deal of warmth. The cut is very comfortable, even around the neck and arms. The armholes are cut wide enough that there arent any issues wearing it as an underlayer.

I returned this because the neck piece didnt stretch enough.I bought a Henderson version and the hyperstretch was much more comfortable. For something that has to fit over your head yet be snug I suggest a hyperstretch product. Im not fat either.
