Rating: Good balance of warmth and flexibility
Reviewer: Carla Z.  -  View all my reviews
These gloves are used for diving in waters ranging from 45-65 degrees with a dry suit. The merino lining is very soft and comfortable. The gloves provide warmth but are flexible enough to accommodate gear removal and adjustments. The longer length is great for covering the latex seals of my dry suit for wrist warmth. I am not sure the velcro strap is necessary though as the gloves are secure without using it.

Rating: Warm and flexible

I used these on a few 61 degree dives. They kept my hands nice and toasty. They were flexible enough to open wetnotes and write without trouble. No complaints so far. Ill add to the review after I put more dives on them.

Rating: Great, but mis-sized
Reviewer: Benjamin B.
Dexterity great. Sizing guide incorrect. Coverage for women 52 to 510 as size small inaccurate. Gloves too small for taller women.

Rating: Awesome

Awesome gloves fit really well and keep your hands warm. I dive in cold water 90% of the time and I am very happy with these. Very easy to get on and off.

We tried the gloves with Karbonflex and didnt like at all as they were hard to don. We then tried the Merino lined gloves without Karbonflex and found them to be warm and much easier to don and your fingers retain their dexterity.

Questions and Answers for Pinnacle 5/4mm Merino Neo Velcro Diving Gloves:

MERINO LINED NEO 5
More warmth than 6mm gloves provided with the comfort,
flexibility and dexterity flexibility of a 4mm glove.

• 5mm neoprene on the back of the hand for maximum warmth
• 4mm TW Flex on palm side for maximum dexterity
• Merino™ lining for greater warmth without adding bulk

• Sizes: XS, Small, Medium, Large, XL, and XXL.

The magic of Merino™ is the tightly-controlled amount of water that is allowed to enter the suit, and before it (by this time warmed by a diver’s body heat) tries to escape.

Most wetsuits are lined with a synthetic weave of nylon and polyester, no different than they were 25 years ago. Once water floods these wetsuits, the water flows freely around the diver within the suit because the suit’s lining has very little ability to absorb and retain water. The diver’s body heat is drawn away from the diver in order to warm up the colder water, the exact inverse of an ice cube melting in a glass of water in order to chill the beverage. This creates temperature equilibrium, making the diver somewhat colder and the water slightly warmer. After the water sloshes around the interior of the suit, it then spills out into the environment, only to be replaced by more cold water from the outside environment, and the process begins again. Over time, the diver’s body loses more and more heat as it futilely tries to heat up huge and ever-cycling quantities of water. (Remember what happens to the ice cube after a short time!).
