The Akona Carry-on bag is a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The size fits well in most airline overhead bins - too tall for the popular regional jets like the ones used by SkyWest, but thats ok since they will check the bag at the ramp and give it back at the ramp when you land. Main compartment fits the regulator bag, computer and other items you will not want to check. There is also enough room for your shirt, flip flops and trunks. The top pocket has a place for a pen, passport, license and other cards you may need during the flight or in the air port. The pull handle is a little short if you are over six feet tall. The bag is a tad lighter than the other ones this size. This is important since the small air lines are putting the carry-ons on the scale these days.

Rating: I like this bag so much I bought two of them!

One for me and one for my wife. This bag is well-designed, well-made, and durable enough that it should last many years if not a lifetime. My only suggestion: the side pocket zipper (see the zipper tab dangling off the lower right corner of the bag in the photo) should close by zipping UP, not DOWN. I had to clip the string off the zipper tab as otherwise the stringed tab would drag on the ground when the zipper was closed (again, see photo). No big deal, really, as its easy to fix by simply cutting off the stringed tab but having the zipper close by zipping it UP like one does with a pair of pants would solve the problem. Overall, this is an exceptional bag at a great price.

Rating: Perfect Carry-On for Dive Gear
Reviewer: Scott C., Monday, July 09, 2007
After reading a review of this bag in one of the mainstream dive mags, I got one for myself. It had plenty of room to hold all of my fragile and Expensive dive gear with plenty of room left over. The Zippers are First Rate and best quality. The overall quality of the bag is Great. Fits perfectly lengthwise in the overhead bin of a 757 but is a couple of inches too long for a 737 bin, so you have put it in sideways. Bag meets Carry-On specs for size on US Domestic flights, but may be 2 inches or so too big for International Carry-On, at least according to Continentals allowances for Carry-On. Overall, Very Pleased with this bag and expect Years of service from it.

Rating: Carry On Review
Reviewer: Janet Blume, Thursday, May 10, 2007
I like the width of the bag. It fit down the aisle easily but once it was loaded with equipment we had a hard time getting the computer in and out of the side zipper (things would shift and we couldnt get it back in). I am going to continue to use the bag just not the computer storage area because of the number of times you have to remove/replace the computer when you fly.
