Rating: Akona Evolution Roller Bag
Reviewer: David Spence, Tuesday, September 19, 2006
This is a great gear bag for traveling. It meets all the airline restrictions for size and you can pack a lot of gear in it and stay under the weight restriction of 50 pounds. I easily fit my fins, BC (not a travel BC), mask, wetsuit, light, collasible hangers for BC and wetsuit and my misc. items that I take along just in case. You can pack some extra clothes in it and still have room. If I end up not checking the bag, I can get my reg in it as well. The two outside pockets are get for getting those extra pair of shorts and T-shirts packed. The bag has a two position handle that makes rolling it very comfortable. A handle on the bottom and one on the side make it easy to pick up and put on a table. The wheels on it roll very easily and are large enough to roll over most terrain encountered. The bag may tend to tip over if you put some of your heavier objects in the two outside pockets. Just a matter of how you pack the bag. Overall an excellent gear bag that swallows a lot of gear.

Rating: Great piece of luggage
Reviewer: Bob Grundmeyer Instructor, Saturday, August 12, 2006
I have found the Evolution roller bag to be not only handy for dive travel, but it has been an exceptional piece of luggage for my non-dive travel. A spacious main compartment fits one divers gear perfectly. The top flap has pockets accessible from both inside as well as outside. No need to open the dive back to the world to access documents, log books or c-cards.
The outter compartment is seperated by a removeable wall meaning it could be used for fins as well.
The wheels are durable and designed to carry more weight than the airlines will allow these days in a bag.

Rating: It all fits in perfectly

I bought this after having one of those cheep mesh bag and a weight bag to hold all of my gear. The Evolution bag fits all of my stuff plus I still have a little more room for a future digital camera I might get. This bag fits all my scuba gear. It does fit snugly in the main compartment, but in the other two side zippers on the front there is a little more room for smaller stuff, like a 35mm camera and dive light. But if you have more gear than the basic diver or a dry suit then you shouldnt get it

Great Bag. Roomy, but doesnt hold so much that you go over weight (or size) restrictionw with the airlines. Got all my gear packed in 48 lbs - 2 lbs under the limit. I like it especially because of the cinch strap (to keep in within size) and the telescoping pull handle. Too short of a handle and the bag rides up on my shoes/ankles when pulling. I am 6"4" so the extra length helps alot. Comes with travel document holder and reg bag. 5 star.

Rating: Great luggage

I recently bought the evolution roller bag and love it. I went on a two week dive trip to Thailand and was able to get all my dive gear and clothes in the bag. I have had an Akona backpack for about seven years and it is still in great condition that is why I wanted a piece of luggage from Akona and as far as I can say right now Im sure it will withhold the test of time and abuse too.

Rating: This bag is perfect

I just recently took this bag on a week long trip to Cozumel, Mexico. I put everything inside of it, including books, and a full length wetsuit - no problem, plenty of room to spare. However, I travel with a separate carry on bag from Akona that I use for my regulator system, air analyzer and mask, so that frees up some room. I would highly recommend this bag for the money.

Rating: Not Impressed
Reviewer: Danny Clarke, Thursday, July 26, 2007
This bag is WAY overpriced. It DOES NOT hold two sets of warm water gear as advertised and when fully loaded it FALLS OVER! I am amazed that anyone would keep this bag after paying almost $300 for it. I certainly didnt! Save your money and buy something more functional.

I found the dual entry pockets, from "outside" or from the mesh compartment "inside" handy for situations where theres not much storage in your hotel/motel room.
Construction seems solid, and its easy to manoeuvre around the airport and hotel.

Rating: Nice, but heavy
Reviewer: Blaise Kovaz, Tuesday, May 22, 2007
This is a great, durable bag, but rather heavy (10 lbs) when empty. Given the 50 lb weight limit on US flights, I was not able to pack as much in it as I would have desired on a trip I made this month to PNG.

Took it on a trip to the Bahamas and was very pleased. It was just the right size and held all my dive gear and some clothes, all under 50 lbs. Liked the bigger wheels and the handle.
