Questions and Answers for Henderson 3mm Thermoprene Core Warmer Mens Wetsuit:

  • Noreen:

Im not sure what size to order, I seem to be in the middle . Im 5.6, weigh 145 and have a 36 bust. What size would you recommend?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

You don't mention your waist size. Waist and Bust are the 2 most important measurements. Based on what you have given, the LG-10 would be the direction we'd point you.

  • Steve:

Does this provide a decent buoyancy amount? Whats the rating on this. I want to use for open water swimming. Thanks

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Neoprene is naturally buoyant. The thicker the layer of neoprene (3mm, 5mm, 7mm) the more buoyant it is. Generally speaking even a 3mm Shorty suot or core warmer is enough buoyancy to keep the wearer at the surface. Core warmers can be attractive to swimmers because of their lack or sleeves making for better mobility for the swimmer.

  • jennifer:

Im trying to find a shorty suit (sleeveless as well) for lap swimming. What would you recommend? thanks!

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    Thsi work fine for swimming.

  • DJ:

I wanted to use this for no gi brazilian jiu jitsu. I would wear a tshirt over it and long shorts. Is the fabric breathable and flexible enough for such usage. The key idea is having more support across the torso.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Neoprene is not breathable at all. It's designed to trap water between your body and the material.

  • Clyde:

I am 67 years old and have an ostomy bag on my lower left abdomen & extensive surgical scaring on my stomach. I also have advanced arthritis in both knees. I love to swim, but am not comfortable using our community pool at home or hotel pools on the road. I am considering buying a 3XXL Henderson sleeveless 3MM Core Warmer Suit to conceal the ostomy bag and surgical scaring so I can swim regularly to get some exercise and improve my overall health. I am 61" and weigh 310 lbs. Will a 3XXL suit fit me? None of our local shops have this size for me to try it on. What. Do you recommend? Is there anything I need to be cautious of by wearing a warmer suit for this application?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The waist and chest are the most important measurements for the fit with a wetsuit. Height usually will work even if it is one to two inches short or tall. Weight will depend on the divers body build and is the last measurement to consider. There will be more choices if you can use a shorty wetsuit.

  • S:

going to (Bonne Terre)"cave dive"/ water temp 58f degrees, have 8/7 Henderson. will this Core suit" be overkill? concerned about flexibility with 11mils of themoprene..thanks in advance..s

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

If you need the extra warmth this is a good choice.

  • lizze:

I am a thin 53" weighing 100 lbs age 62 and get very cold in a pool. Im swimming a mile. Would this be a good choice to maintain core body temp or is it overkill? do you have a better choice? thanks!

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

This would be a perfect choice.

  • ron:

I have a chest meas of 42, waist 38 weight 172, 6 ft tall, i am wearing an "h bomb" vest, (large) and am thinking that the best size henderson shorty to wear over it, that i should get an xl because that would fit over the vest and not be too tight. (i have a wetsuit i bought from sports authority, sz large, and it is truly like a second skin, too tight, a little looser would not impede movement as much: sound like XL is the way to go?? thanks: ron

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Based on the info you provided and the manufacturer's sizing chart, it looks like XL would be the size to go with.

  • Orval:

I would like to wear this under my sweat suit at the gym would this fill the need or should I look at something different

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Orval, yes this would work for your needs.

  • Deborah:

I am a new scuba diver and have a trip planned to Aruba and Curacao coming up in April. Im wondering if this suit will suffice for diving those waters. How much versatility does this suit give? Or should I look at one with sleeves? I do not know how warm/cool the waters will be in April there.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Deborah, the water you are going to be in is considered warm warm. As for this suit it would keep your core warm but your arms and legs are going to be exposed. I would suggest going with a suit with sleeves.

  • Sue:

    Is there a zipper opening?

Arthur  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello, there is no zipper. One of the shoulders is Velcro and you clime in through the top.

  • mohamed:

For men sizes i want to know wich size i cam use for a men who weight 85 kg xl or 2xl ???!!! Plzzzzi need answer badlyyyy

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Mohamed Nour El Din, when you are sizing a wetsuit or dive skin. The two most important measurements are going to be your chest/bust and waist. Height is a secondary measurement and weight is the last measurement you take into account.

  • Jon:

I am wondering about the ease of putting this on and taking it off. I am in my 70s as is my wife. She has a bust size of 44 with a waist of 36 and is 5 tall. I was thinking of a size 14 for her? I have a chest measurement of 44"and a waist of 43-44". I wonder if this style would work. I am guessing I need a 3Xl and my wife needs a 16. We used to scuba in the Carribean but now limit our activities to snorkeling with the gr.andchildren. Thank you.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

It is easier than most core warmers to get off and on due to it using a blend of super-stretch neoprene. It opens up using Velcro on one shoulder to also assist in this.

  • mohamed:

    Waist 111 cm - chest 110 cm - weight 85 kg - height 168 cm - plzz give a size to buy

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Mohamed, going by your measurements you would be a size 2XL. You are 43" in the waist, 42" in the chest, 5''''5" in height, and weight is 189 Lbs.

  • crystal:

In your size chart it says that you have (MD, M LG, LG, L Long, 3X Large... etc) but when I am trying to choses these sizes for my item I couldn’t find them!! The options are only: (X Small, Small, Large, X Large, 2X Large).. so from where can I chose the other sizes?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The sizing charts submitted from the manufacturers are often generic sizing for their entire product line. Not all products are manufactured in all sizes. Scuba.com will display in the Add to Cart drop down box all sizes an item is manufactured and available in.
