My son is 5 years old and 40 lbs. I purchased the 2mm kids shorty wetsuit royal blue in small, thinking it would be too big because accorrding to the size chart, size small is out of his weight range but found it fits him just right. The reason I purchase one size bigger was because I read one review that the size comes in about two sizes smaller than what was indicated on the website size chart. Thank god for that review, otherwise, my order would not fit my son. Other than the size discrepancy, Im happy with the wetsuit.

Rating: Perfect for Snorkeling in Hawaii

I purchased two of these for my sons, who are 5 and 7 years old. The suits were a perfect fit and perfect to keep them warm while they snorkelled. My younger one is on the slim side, but the suit still fit him well. My older one is a bit huskier, but it still fit him beautifully. It is also the perfect thickness so that they dont get scratched while skimming the corals.I saw similar suits worn by kids on the beach and the quality of the Deep See suit is definitely far, far superior. I would definitely buy the next bigger size for when they need it next.

If you have a kid whos growing in all different directions thorugh a pre-adolescent growth spurt, this is the wetsuit for you. Mens small is just too big, the usuall XXL youth suits are designed for midgets or anorexic people. So here we are - reality in our world. Thanks for a great product, that perhaps my boy can wear for more than one season.
