This slate works perfectly. Its easy to write and erase with an special angle. Otherwise, youll get a whiten slate. Then youll have to erase again. The trick is to use the eraser slightly touch the slate and erase. If you touch it too tightly, youll get a whiten board.
The only catch is that it use a rubber tube to connect two different kinds of pens. One is pencil, the other is a magnetic pen. This rubber tube will come off once in a while and tend to get away from the board itself, if youre not paying attention during SCUBA diving. I lost one in a diving. I have to buy a whole new one. The rubber tube writing device is hard to get. I think the producer should combine the two into a single pen. On one side of the pen, its a pencil, the other side is magnetic pen. The eraser is then located in between the two ends.
TUSA SCA-13 is a similar slate. It uses the kind of pen that I just mentioned. Just use one two-sided pen and solve the problem. The following is the picture of SCA-13.

Works great magnetic side does not allow small print but works to get general messages across. Back doubles as a tablet, which for me works great to write more detailed information about the dive for me to remember and log later.

This is a handy communication device. Fits into pocket of BCD or can be clipped on.
