Having a slate is very important for note taking or communcating. This size of a slate and the ease of carrying a writing tool clipped to my BCD was great. It also has a handy pencil that you can easily use and keep in place.

some never find it necessary, but i found it so useful, the price is right, the size is right, i can tug it in my bcd pocket when not in use. some baby shampoo, (which i use for cleaning my mask) will work fine to clean up the writing. the clip and the pencil, all works very well..

You cant beat the price on this knife! It is very handy for prying and cutting and a perfect size. Knife comes with leg straps and 2 screw in mounting bolts. Knife fits securly in the locking sheath.

This slate is just the ticket for casual communications. It is large enough to say plenty and small enough to not get in the way. The clip allows it to be easily stowed on a D-ring for quick access or in a BC pocket for a more streamlined profile. The quick-release makes it easy to hand off to your buddy and get it back for storage. This is an excellent small and inexpensive gift idea.

The slate came in quite valuable for the first dozen dives or so because it takes some time to get used to the idea that you have very limited modes of communication while diving.
